Was watching the Cotto Randall Bailey fight. Lamps asked merchant was there any welterweight like Miguel Cotto? He replied yes Emile griffith he later went on to win the middle weight crown" wow advanced ring IQ,: as Cotto ten years later win his middleweight title.

Head to Head I've heard Emile is the strongest of the two with the torso of a light heavyweight. Contemplate that that he didn't duck nobody, Cotto s career brilliant too. Who wins this epic battle at welterweight? Or at middleweight?

Griffith either weight. It's true that Griffith would work just as hard as you made him as one astute poster here mentioned once, and Cotto would make him work. That's not actually the best thing for him really.

Griffith was on a completely different level. He beats ten shades outta Cotto.

Man I watched this movie! Ring of fire I rented it from the library. Emile brings similarities to Cotto: both arguably bisexual with titles at welter and middleweight. Man I feel bad what happened to paret. I strictly remember the mayor of New York wholesomally saying there's plenty of sports out there for kids, not just boxing back then a ref could end your life without the corner good looking out. A travesty imo. I'm so glad the way how safe the boxing world has become. It's still the pAin business but at least there's no more Frazier/Foreman's or Morrison/ Mercer's. I agree the opposition back then was steep not to mention the paret fight was a trilogy .

I think for this fight you would have to bring Cotto to the past . Can he win without adding water weight. Can he survive those middleweight s by just drinking a glass of water then jumping thru the ropes?

If you brought Emile to the future, his head gets battered around less, he could come out as a gay boxer. His fight schedule would be significantly less. This really would have been a barb burner as Cotto may be too refined than the primtive style was years ago. I still lean towards Emile but guys I can see the similarities that merchant brought up. Good debate .

I misread this as Emile Griffith v Miguel Canto. I'm not sure Cotto stands much more chance.

I think Cotto outboxes him, similar to Napoles.

Interesting fight, Cotto would have his moments, but I think Griffith wins relatively comfortably,

Griffith wins with laughable ease. Cotto wouldn't have lasted vs Paret, let alone Emile.

I don’t think Cotto is near the level of Griffith.
A comfortable UD for Griffith or a late stoppage.

Emile is an atg at 147. Miguel, although a great fighter in his era, isn't. Emile is a level above and demonstrates it in this one.

I don't consider Miguel Cotto a great fighter at all.

He was in the "very good" category IMO.
