Headlining a card on Friday in Marsili's hometown of Civitavecchia. The vacant IBO Mediterannean lightweight title will be at stake.

On paper their CVs and tale of tape are fairly similar. The undefeated 44 year old Italian southpaw has ½" on the orthodox Belgian (thirteen years his junior), and both men have somewhere in the neighborhood of forty pro bouts and 250 rounds boxed. They also have similar championship pedigrees, both holding national titles as well as versions of Euro belts and minor WBC trinkets.

Marsili had a film made about him a few years ago, entitled "Tizzo: Story of a Great Champion" and takes great pride in his ambition to revitalize the sport in his country and specifically in the vicinity of Rome in his native state of Lazio. He mentioned in an interview when the movie came out that he occasionally thinks about quitting but is consistently inspired to set an example for younger generations of fighters - so I suspect that, while this would be a good note on which to bow out, being his biggest win in years and permitting him to retire without a blemish on his record aside from the one draw, he will keep battling on until he is defeated.

Jamoye, the younger and slightly better sibling of Steve Jamoye, still probably has a few years left to compete at the same level, but appraoching double-digit losses now his opportunities for even minor titles might be drying up soon if he doesn't post a road success here.

Even their amateur experience is practically identical, both about 60 bouts. (Jamoye 56-4, Marsili 43-13-2)
