I just don't see it with Spence, he seems rather basic to me. I think there is a reason Mikey is fighting Spence and not Crawford, he knows Crawford would tool him up (I believe he lost to him in the AMs).

 

Also not sure I see any similarities in their styles..

i thought his size would kill his chances, but hes bulking up the right way. i think he will have his speed and his power should improve with this new conditioning plan. the only thing that worries me is stamina, if mikey doesnt focus enough on stamina, the extra weight and spences pace will deplete him by the 8th. if hes still breathing well in the 8th, i think he could pull it off.

 

There was a time when fighters would go to fights after a win to garner interest in a matchup. Hearns would be at Hagler's fights etc. Manny should go to the Spence and Crawford fights and be front row. Those guys would love to fight him for the money and what they think would be an easy win.

 

Yeah, but I was thinking more along the lines of temperament. Pac, Duran, Chavez, Toney all loved to fight. They loved getting in the ring. It would kill them to stay away for two years. Mikey is sort of daring to be great, but does he really have that hunger and love of the sport? I remember a few years ago he was thinking about retiring and becoming a cop.

I think Garcia is the better technician of the two, but it's a matter of size and power. Can Garcia take Spence's punch and can he keep him honest with his own?

 

Unfortunately, he's got a day job.
