Yes, when people fight their mandatories they are showered with praise and gratitude. (see GGG vs. Szeremata)
Tough fight for Pac but that’s the kind of fight he needs to keep the edge. On the flip side, that’s the kind of fight that’ll finally see him retired. Pac UD if he’s in the same form he was for Thurman.
Not a bad fight. Garcia hasn't impressed me at WW particularly but you have to assume Pac loses a little of himself with every fight. Garcia has pretty good timing with his hooks, but it took an ATG counter puncher in Marquez 4 fights to find the finishing shot.
Can't believe he is fighting 42 against Garcia. Dangerous opponent to date. Garcia is a counter puncher I think it's a tough match up for Manny. Pac has the angles and punishes Garcia and that would eventually trouble Garcia. However, if Garcia can keep him in front with a jab. It's a problem. I feel that it's a toss up 50/50. I got Manny by TKO though 9. Because Garcia is not the type to run around the ring eventually he will get caught. The same thing could happen to Pacquiao as well.
No one's picked Danny by decision? I'm surprised. Most agree that Danny is a fundamentally sound B+ across the board boxer. Also, Danny will be SIGNIFICANTLY bigger than Pac. Danny looks like he's 165+ on fight night. Very thickly built.
Don’t forget an Angel Heredia on his shoulder. He found the shot in previous fights, didn’t have the same effect.
Danny gets a lot of crap but he can crack. That left hook is still dangerous. Manny is old but is still very good, as the Thurman fight showed. I hope this one happens. Can’t believe Manny is still this good at 42. We’ve never seen anything like him before at this weight. Heavies can usually stick around for a long time, especially huge ones. Manny is still an old smaller guy fighting younger bigger, skilled, guys. I need to get on the same vitamins.
That's a fair point, you don't really see it much throughout history... looking at some greats that were known for their longevity and p4p legacy carved out across multiple weights, the first Sugar Ray was losing to fringe contenders as often as he beat them and receiving unpopular gift decisions over some at 42 (in 1963)...and Leonard fared even worse than Robinson, getting knocked out by Camacho while a year or two younger than Pac is now.
The tricky Syphilis doesn't deserve to be lumped in with those other straight forward diseases...In its prime it targeted men-women from all classes, in boxing it helped Panama Al avoid excessive aging & gave closure to Charley Mitchell. Syphilis still has one last comeback in the first half of the 21st century
Officially changing my prediction to Manny by murde...errr, stoppage. Based on Danny's latest fight he is too slow, too flat-footed, too vulnerable to body-shots, and any time he has someone hurt he leaps back to admire his work and lets his opponent off the hook. If the Manny who beat Thurman shows up, Danny's a dead man walking.
