So...the positive news for the young Aussie currently holding prizefighting's biggest lottery ticket is that he's 2-0 with a 100% kayo rate against southpaws (Aswin Cabuy and Robson Assis, with their combined record of 35-63-4...)

The bad news is, within the last ten months, Horn fought two men in Pac-Man's age bracket (38yo Ali Funeka and 42yo Randall Bailey) and, though victorious, he was dropped against both.

Anybody see anything in the Funeka or Vargas fights to indicate this real life Rocky-style cherry pick could have a movie script ending? To my eyes, there is absolutely nothing exceptional about Horn, in any way. Decent fighter but really just a plate of ham and eggs. Even a shot old Pacquiao without his speed & aggression of yore ought to be many times over too much for him, no? Am I missing something? How is Arum planning on selling this as anything but a gross mismatch? Or is the plan to just fleece the grateful/quixotic public in Oz and milk them for a few dollars while taking an expected loss on the rest of the world ignoring this?

Terrible mismatch. Pac might actually stop him here.

As Luf said, wouldn't be shocked to see a stoppage here. Horn has to be the worst opponent that Pac has stepped in with in quite some time.

Agree it's a lotto win & it will be interesting to see how many actually turn up to an outdoor stadium.

Jeff Fenech & Azumah Nelson drew 36,000 in Melbourne. Both were well known not just to boxing fans but to general sports fans.

Kostya Tszyu drew 28,000 in Melbourne against Jesse James Leija. Tszyu was well known to general sports fans.

Mundine and Green drew 26,000 in Adelaide on Friday night. Both are well known by general sports fans.

Jeff Horn is unknown to general sports fans in Australia & virtually unknown to boxing fans. He's been fighting in New Zealand. Not sure how he's going to fill a 50,000 seat stadium unless they are planning on paying spectators to attend.

Selling wont be a problem here.

I remember old farts Azumah Nelson and Jeffrey Fenech had a rematch and it was a major hit. They both were nearly 50 at the time for fark sake.

It's about a boxing superstar fighting in Australia. They do not care how old they are and even if they fight a bum.

Boxing quality is so poor here so to get this fight here is already amazing for them.
Old farts Danny Green and Mundine are the main eventers here. That tells you a lot.

Funeka didn't legit drop him, it was from a brutal head clash and incorrectly ruled as a KD, but no I see nothing in Horn that'll trouble the Pacman.

He's not mainstream in Australia & won't draw a fraction of what Fenech, Tszyu, Mundine or Green did.

The other four are well known by the mainstream Australian sporting public.

Pacman isn't & Horn doesn't bring that to the table is my point.

Given enough promotion that the fight is happening, trust me, it will sell. You over estimate the drawing power of fenech, tszyu, Mundine and green. Boxing has never been mainstream in Australia. An old Beckham came with his U.S. Club team and the stadium was packed to the roof, and soccer is never mainstream as well. All you need is for the promoter to make awareness to the public and people will tune in.

    They won't fill a 50,000 outdoor stadium.

In fact, they won't half fill it.

I reckon 5,000 through the gate. 10,000 and they've done an unbelievable job.

Don't be surprised if the fight doesn't go ahead in Australia.

I don't think the money is there to put it on.

This shouldnt even be sanctioned FFS.

What is Arum trying to do to the man who made him more $$$$$ than all his other fighters combined????

    Khan
    Cotto at 152
    Brook
    Spence
    Crawfish @145
    Broner@145
    Lara @152

So many solid names in or around him and some NO NAME AUSSIE gets this fight.
