Cancer is a *****. My dad's been battling for years. It seems as everyone has somebody in their lives that gets it. I hate to get political, but has anyone ever wondered why we haven't had any significant cures for any afflictions over the past 20 years? Medicine and science are better than ever, yet nothing. Cancer, AIDS, MS, Parkinson's... yet we all have Iphones. Good luck Emmanuel.
Exactly my friend. All this science. You would think that creating these small chips that would drive a world full of instant access to any information through the internet would be more difficult to create than a cure for a specific disease. Sometimes I get to wondering whether cures to diseases are held off because there's too much money to be made to have sick people in hospitals administering them medicine to just keep them alive without a real cure. :?
Love him or not for his opinions on HBO, most of us here in boxing forums like this respect Emmanuel Steward. Get well Emmanuel, we want to see alot more of you both as a trainer and at the mike at HBO!:good
Hope it's not true, but life's a shitter and these things happen. Really sad news, the guy has spent his life at the top of the game and I wish we'll see him back there again I'm Wlad's next fight.
Cancer has put its imprint on everybody. While I largely agree with your sentiment, in the last 20 years AIDS research and treatment has improved dramatically. Just 20 years ago Magic Johnson announced what appeared to be a death sentence, now he is the public face of the Dodgers.
Very sad news, I wish Mr. Steward well, I will pray for him & his family will. Hopefully Emanuel can pull through this, how stubborn he is in nature will have a lot to do with how well he can fight this thing. My grandfather has had reoccurring skin & bone cancer in his legs for almost 20 years. I've lost count of how many times he's had spots & growths he's had removed or cut and dug out of his legs, and then turning around 2 days later and playing 18 holes...He did the same thing when he had open-heart quadruple bi-pass surgery, crazy old ******* was golfing again in 10 days. Emanuel is certainly tough enough to fight & beat this, he just has to have to want too. Beating it, has a lot to do with what your attitude is towards it, at least in my grandpa's case it has.
Exactly what they said is that he was advised not to travel by his doctors due to a health issue. Which if you read between the lines means that he was having a health problem where the travel was the major issue. Not the actual duties of commentating. That could be anything but a cancer could definitely have that affect.
Pretty sure he does. Thought about making a thread about it earlier in the week but didn't want to say anything. A friend of mine who is in-the-know in the boxing world told me that last week. Hopefully he will make a quick and full recovery if true.
I agree man. Im not trying to be the type of keyboard critic I hate, I realise advances in these subjects take time and a lot of hard work.... but ****. We spent $3 billion dollars spread out on over 40 types of cancer research in 2011. In 2010 we spent almost that much (a little over $3 billion) on giving money to Izrael alone (not counting the billions we give to russia, egypt, sudan, ect every year) Completely insane :-( *if anyone see wrongs figures let me know
