    Part 2.

1966-1985: TV expansion to Cable and PPV: This era is loaded with talent.

    1. Ali
    2. Holmes
    3. Foreman
    4. Frazier
    5. Norton
    6. Witherspoon
    7. Thomas
    8. Quarry
    9. Page
    10. Coetzee
    11. Shavers
    12. Lyle
    13. Cooney
    14. Young
    15. Weaver

1986-2000: 12 round era and super heavyweight era. This era had tremendous depth, and a lot of talent.

    1. Lewis
    2. Holyfield
    3. Tyson
    4. Bowe
    5. Ibeabuchi
    6. Byrd
    7. Morrer
    8. Mercer
    9. Douglas
    10. Tua
    11. Morrison
    12. Bruno
    13. Rhaman
    14 McCall
    15. Ruiz

2001-( ratings are of 2013 ) 2026 – Eastern European dominance era. While this era is only half over, the nations producing the top talent has shifted. Once the iron curtain in Eastern Europe fell both the amateur and professional ranks have been dominated by Eastern Europeans. Only 2 Americans made the top ten. Since many of the below fighters career’s are not over, and future talent in the amateurs will arrive, this list will likely look very different after the Klitshcko’s come 2026. It is possible young pros such as Pulev, or Boystov will rate in the next 4 years. Hopefully we will all be here to debate it!

    1A. V Klitschko
    1B. W Kltischko
    3. Povetkin
    4. Chagaev
    5. Sanders
    6. Ibragimov
    7. Haye
    8. Adamek
    9. Chambers
    10. Brewster
    11. K. Johnson
    12. Peter
    13. Valuev
    14 Gomez
    15. Solis

    Bravo!

    My rankings of your lists.

    1. 1966-1985 (Golden Age)
    2. 1906-1925
    3. 1986-2000
    4. 1926-1945
    5. 1946-1965
    6. 1885-1905
    7. 2001-

Thank you for these list. Some of my favorite fighters are in lesser list. I think the 1986 list is fantasic but I think certain fighter from different and lower eras would beat everyone on that list. (I hope that made sense)

Do you exclude past prime wins too then? I always wonder about that.

very good work and perhaps a more accurate way of trying to account for more than just achievements... my only thought is guys that are not HWs shouldn't be ranked there but this only improves their status in their own true weight class.

    a great effort, well done!

Yes, I do ( Personal head to head ), but fighters are rated in their prime years, and only listed once. I may extend the list to the 20 twenty.

this also is hard to argue against, though I'd say the pre & post war HWs were better than the earlier ones - 1906-25, namely in the progression of Boxing style & finese, well developed & improved to the boxing we know & love by the late 20s early 30s.

Excellent read until I saw you rated Vitali K over Wlad K. That is a joke. Wlad has proven himself the clear better fighter.

So let me understand this correctly. You would have Vital likely #2 in his time line. So why is a difference in opinion between 1 spot a joke? Please explain.

Are you aware Sanders and Purrity both think Vitali was better? They did, and of course they fought them both. In addition Chris Byrd thinks Vitali was better. In my personal opinion Vitali is better head to head ( Which is my #1 criteria here ) because he has the iron chin, and is even harder to out box thanks in part to his willingness to mix is up more often, his ability to counter, and his unusually good ring generalship.

I also think Wlad has a better resume of wins ( which is my #2 criteria ), even though his losses were far more alarming. So I listed them 1A and 1B. Most non-bandwagon fans of both ( which you are not ) tend to think Vitali was the better of the two.

PS: I am ready to move Morrer down a spot or two.
