do you not regard the british title as being a high level / standard ? there have been some great, great british champs that havent been world champs.
Course it does, we have a thread every three months saying 'end of an era' For a country our size we have a ridiculous amount of talent
The next generation seem really exciting. Look at the fighters we have: Froch, Haye, Brook, Cleverly, Moore, Macklin, Mitchell, Barker, Murray, Barker, Price, Fury, Groves, Saunders, Gavin, DeGale, Bellew, Jeffries, Murray Jr......I could go on. It really is a great time to be a British boxing fan and it could get even better in the next few years when some of these guys move up to world level.
Are you serious, Graham Earl versus Micheal Katsidis was one of the best fights ever sen on british t.v and thaxton was a very good gatekeeper who had a fantastic switch hitting style where he could throw lethal hooks, his fight against hatton was truely great, seriously you need to stop looking at a fighters last few performances and think back before they were over the hill.
Exactly, we are not short of talent. As an aside, Puerto Rico has proven beyond any shadow of doubt that they are the best P4P (****, did I just use that phrase?) country out there in terms of population:world champion ratio. It's unbelievable when you see the amount of talent that comes through that place year in- year out. I fully expect Cuba to be near the top of that list in a few more years as well. Indubitablygood.
He's not even the worst British fighter to have held a world title. And if you think Hatton, Calzaghe, Woods & Francis are 'domestic level', what term would you use to describe the likes of Lee Meager, Craig Watson, etc etc
Absolutely, there is some potential world beaters on that list. It is such a pity about ITV4 discontinuing their boxing coverage, because they do such a great job with their boxing programmes, great insight into the fighters and they give us a couple of live undercards before the main event. The upcoming prospects would have benefitted from more of that kind of exposure.
