Yup PPV from Copenhagen, Tyson was unfit but gave Neilsen a pretty sound beating with single hard shots. The Dane was pulled out in the end with damage to his eye if I remember correctly.

As for JC, he floored Will a few times then was doing the old trick of looking at the ref while "hammering" him with a flurry of shots. He was definitely putting more meat into his punches back then though.

Calzaghe is a good fighter, but he is no legend like BHop. What is so special in defending the WBO (!!!) belt over 9 years only in europe:roll: , including fights with several bums.

    Bollocks.

Joe didn't rob people to rack up his defenses, Ottke did.

When Joe won the WBO SMW title although the WBO was not well recognised in general the SMW title was on a par with other titles by that time as evidenced by Eubank's draw with WBC holder Benn some years previously.

hopkins is a good fighter, but he is no legend like joe. what is so special about defending his equally corrupt ABC strap(s) over 10 years in only america:roll: , including fights with several mediocre middleweights and name smaller fighters out of their depth at MW.

He fought Sheika a couple of years before he was due to fight Tate. I thought Tate got a back injury during the run up to the fight with Joe and hasnt fought since. I could be wrong though.

If your being serious, get the **** out of here with that garbage.

And if your being sarcastic, get the **** out of here with that garbage.

Joe is a great fighter, show him some respect, he never takes a backward step and is a nice bloke.

BHop became undisputed champ in 2001 and defended his belts always agaist #1 guys. The WBO belts was rubbish in 1997, like the IBO belt is rubbish today. Why did Calzaghe vacate the IBF belt after winning it.
You cannot compare a legend like BHop with a Calzaghe.

    Forget the ABC titles.

When it comes down to it if you are comparing who they fought against then Calzaghe's resume is greater than Hopkins.

Hopkins best wins are against blown up welterweights and that's a fact.

joe dumped the IBF belt because his mandatory opponent for the title was rejected by HBO. so he chucked it and fought manfredo instead who HBO suggested, setting up the kessler fight on HBO later in the year.

I think the whole "fighter makes the belt" argument is just an excuse for people to avoid mandatories. DM gave up his WBA/IBF titles for a very good reason & it had nothing to do with loyalty to the WBO. If someone holds WBC/WBA/IBF titles & is determined to keep all three thats great news for a contender, all he has to do is make his way up one of the orgs & the champ will have to fight him eventually. It's the way it should be done.

It is regrettable that Joe lost his first real title but he left the IBF with little choice after he faced a joke opponent in Manfredo. My question is this? Where do you draw the line with the WBO? Is Hide a two time champ? I say it's a lot easier to recognise only three belts, which is still too many, than let a fourth in.

Or we could just recognise that Ring belt & mythical linear titles everyone seem to love so much.

If Joe sucks then I am lost for words. Here we have a man deemed as a top five pound for pounder being deemed as a joke. Christ the amount of bull**** that floats about on ESB is a joke at times.

It's about time some people start taking the time to be a bit more respectful of the sweet science. Instead we have got a bunch of keyboard warriors who have never even put on a pair of gloves deeming guys like Calzaghe as a farce.

Discredit the legitimacy of his reign all you like, but for the love of God please do it in an articulate manner.

He should have kept it for one more year to break Joe Louis' record.
