    Thanks Victor Ortiz for derailing the Berto hype train. HBO should stop giving Berto all these million dollar paydays after this fight.

    I always thought Berto was a bit too overhyped. It's not just because of this fight.

    I'm glad to see Ortiz fighting through all 12 rounds with determination.

    I'm so tired of the ESB attitude where any loss instantly means a hypejob was exposed. He lost to a motivated highly skilled fighter. Nothing to be ashamed of. I'm give him 50-50 odds in the inevitable rematch.

    I always thought Berto was too much hype. Making $1M dollar paydays while fighting bums while fighters of the caliber of JMM have struggled for the majority of their careers to make those type of paydays.

    He lost to Collazo and got the nod cause he's an HBO backed fighter.

    @jchap

    Wasn't the close of a fight. Berto held for most of it. He was given breaks by that horrible ref. Berto has been overhyped from the start and yes I made many comments saying that BEFORE this fight. I knew he was overhyped when he was given that gift win over Collazo (i think that was his name).

    Let him fight the other overhyped bums, Clottey, Margarito, Cintron ...

    Berto was ranked up there with Manny and May at Welter (3rd Overall).

    So he certainly did get his arse handed to him by a large underdog.

    I wouldn't say he got "exposed" as the KD in the first round seems to have reduced his stamina quite a bit. He literally had to work hard to stay in the fight.

    It's just a case of Ortiz fulfilling his earlier hype.

    although berto did score with some nice right hands, it seemed to me as if ortiz was the guy who came to fight, and not so much with berto

    Except that in this case the hypejob was called long before the loss.

    There was never any hype. He deserved to be where he was, but he's never been considered an elite PFP fighter, and he has never been considered to be the Welterweight champ by anyone (except for the WBC). Berto was a solid world class fighter before today and nothing has changed at all.

    What hype? Any legitimate person saw him as a weak champion who would get killed by Floyd or Manny. He still showed heart tonight and was in a great fight. Props to both men especially Ortiz for wanting it more.

    All fighters are ****. If all fighters don't win 100% of their fights like Joe Calzaghe, I don't wanna hear it. **** 99.99999% of fighters, because they're losers.
