Are we coming to an end of the Mexican legends? We had Salvidor Sanchez, Chavez, Delahoya (Amerixican), Morales, Barrera, Castillo but MExican boxing seems to have been going through a rough patch of late with the top dogs falling off.

Morales was destroyed, Barreras career is at an end, Margarito has lost and there seems to be no path back to the top. Larios has lost 3 on the bounce against top fighters.

Juan Marquez is still P4P but how much longer can he go on at 33? Soto is a very good prospect but hes in the wrong division because he just doesn't look good enough to beat Pacman, Guzman, Marquez or Barrera

The 2 shining lights seem to be Vasquez and Rafael Marquez BUT they are 32 and 29 respectfully, seemingly in the twighlights of their careers.

Chavez Jr, Margarito, Julio Diaz are never going to be ATG fighters.

Or am I wrong is another Mexican legend around the corner? IS Juan Diaz the saviour of MExican boxing? I'm not sure he has the look of an ATG. If he is he needs to stay away from the 140lb division - I can't see him coping. Or maybe Areola will be the first Mexican HW Champ.....

Comiserations to FreddyWak, lets hope we don't lose our favourate Mexican from ESB :hi:

Juan has a good chance to become ATG...

    Accomplishments: titles unification

Quality of opposition: Freitas is good scalp, Casamayor is still possible (I don't believe Morales will give him a fight, so easy to get him for good money), Pac can move up finally.

Performance: incredible, nice to see. Especially if he gets Katsidis into the ring.

Diaz is a product of great management. He will eventually run into a young bull and stop fighting old bums and neverwases

I think the 3 candidates for the next Mexican great are Juan Diaz, Cristian Mijares, and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. But it's too early to say for sure.

    He's venezuelan.

But don't worry Mexico has 11 World Champs right now, and good prospects coming up.

I wish Argentina had that many fighters and Champs.

But i suppose is like Mexicans wishing to be like Argentina in Soccer, LOL!

Yeah,Abner Mares is better than Chavez Jr. and one of the best prospects, he even was Amateur World Junior Champ, but was robbed in the Olympics.

He's fighting Forbes in the Barrios card, we will see what he has.

A lose will be very hard for him.
