"Apocalypse" is the best word to describe the present state of Mexican boxing.

I believe the Mayan's predicted that in 2007 all the top Mexican boxers would be destroyed. The Mayans were that good.

Boxing is becoming far more global. Asia, Cuba (many real good defectors recently) South America, even some Europeans are starting to make an impact 140 and under. Mexico will never have the strangle hold over those weight classes as it use to for so many years.Mexico will still produce some very good fighters, but 140 and below isnt a one horse town so to speak any more, dominated by Mexicans, who 75 % of the time fight other Mexicans. I really dont hate Mexican fighters, but I am for the globalization of boxing as a world wide sport. As opposed to all Middleweight and above fighters being only American and all below Mexican.

Marquez brothers, Vazquez,....they are not that old
Christian Mijares is in his mid 20's,
Ponce de Leon is young as well and has alot more exciting fights left in his tank.

I think that there are plenty and more will come.

Mijares will be a champ for a long time, Rafael Marquez will beat Vazquez (sorry Goose:D), and then Caballero and then go for the Featherweight Champs (like he said in one of his last interviews)

But i want Bautista to beat Ponce De Leon, we need more Philipinos in Boxing.

    Pacman

    Donaire

    Z Gorres

And now Bautista could be champ and is exciting to watch (also Ponce De Leon isn't that good).

AJ Banal is a good prospect

Yeah maybe the end of the "old Mexican" legends MAB, Morales, Castillo, etc etc but don't worry, fighting in the Mexican's blood so a new crop of legends will come along. :yep

I wanna add Jhonny Gonzales and Martin Castillo to the list

Ponce de Leon is good enough to make for exciting fights...and he will keep on beating competition until he meets a good boxer, and then still he has a a punchers chance.

and of course Vazques will beat up Marquez for what its worth in the rematch :bbb

mexico is doing fine. there may not be a champ as well-known as jcc or dlh but there are many young guns out there who have some fight in them. the marquez brothers and vasquez, even mijares are going to be here for a a long time, well maybe except for jmm, he's getting old too.

Diaz is as American as apple pie. Mexico will continue to produce good fighters but Juan is ours.

Barrera & Morales are already locked for ATG. Castillo didn't make it. Marquez Bros will make it. Diaz will reign for a while, will end if he fights Pacman. Chavez Jr. will be Champ, ATG?? we'll see!!! On the Prospect side, I only see Victor Ortiz to have the Potential to be Great.

Potential Filipino Greats following Pac will be Bautista, AJ Banal & N. Donaire.
