With no more significant really fights for the rest of the year we may as well just give out the awards. So give your main pick with an honourable mention for each category. Prospect of the year (Gvozdyk), due to stopping Chilemba after Chilemba came off a good perfomance against Kovalev. Honourable mention (H/M): Jojo diaz- so far has passed all of the tests in front of him with flying colours and has shown himself to be a well rounded fighter with no immediate flaws. Knockout of the year (Canelo vs Khan) It pretty bad, I honestly thought the guy might have took a trip to the otherside, it was brutal. H/M (Gassiev vs Shimmell) he almost took his head off with that shot. Upset of the year (Ndongo vs Troyanovsky)- contender for knockout of the year two damn who could of saw this the guy was probably 30/1 to win. H/M: very difficult when you consider Corrales vs Uchiyama was a pretty big one, but it has to be Joe Smith jr vs Fonfara. Fighter of the year (Andre Ward)- Controversial one but he went up in weight to fight the LHW king, with only one real decent fight under his belt in 2 year. Alot of people said he wouldn't take the fight and he did it, many thought he would get knocked out and he won having to overcome a knockdown against one of the biggest puncher in the game. H/M (Carl Frampton) for unifying his division then going up in weight to beat a Santa Cruz which he was a underdog in. Robbery of the year (Levit vs Tischenko)- he was beaten from pillar to post by this guy and they robbed him shameless, they didn't even make it close or have it a split decision they gave him a UD. H/M (Chudinov vs Sturm): the worst thing about this one is the guy who was given the gift was also juiced. Fight of the year (Whyte vs Chisora)- Because there was real animosity between the two big men and they gave it everything, both were buzzed and noone wanted to quit or show any sign of weakness. H/M (Conlan vs Nelson)- if you really wanna what a british dustup looks like watch this fight it was a war which noone saw coming.
Prospect of the year: Jarrett Hurd Knockout of the year: Wilder over Szpilka/ Honorable mention, Loma over Martinez Upset of the year: Joe Smith over Fonfara Fight of the year: Vargas vs Salido/ Honorable mention, Thurman vs Porter Fighter of the year: Anthony Joshua( Took the title with a knockout and defended it twice with knockouts) Honorable mention, Andre Ward( came up in weight and defeated the monster.)
good list I think the Thurman vs porter fight is a very good shout. AJ fighter of the year though? lol I can't put Martin, Molina and Brazeale as a great year if anything Parker's 3 of Takam, Dimentrenko and Ruiz is head and shoulders a better run.
