Will not have a bad word said about the Irish lad McCloskey but I do think Ajose should be rated higher. Ajose has defeated better opposition such as Bradley Pryce and Ali Nuumbembee Commonwealth champion at higher weights. They both stopped Lynes. Ajose also stopped Holgate and defeated that tough English lad twice whose name slips my mind who held the English title amongst others.
Very interesting thread. I think a primary reason that there are so many poor quality world title fights is because 'serious' rankings are wilfully ignored and overlooked. It plays right into promoters and phoney titlists hands to do so and suits them perfectly. I just wish proper ratings could become more relevant and play a more prominent part in boxing again. I'd say that they are one of the few tools that work for fans to counter all the hype and spin that goes on in world title matchmaking these days. After all, the choice of challenger says so much about a champion, his reign and even the state of boxing today. Anyway, good ratings. Of course I don't agree with everything but that would be rather disturbing if I did.
