Does anyone think the first fight was stopped prematurely? I just saw the fight yesterday and it didn't seem like Tyson was that seriously hurt when the fight was stopped. I do think he still would have lost a decision, but does anyone else feel this way?
He wasnt hurt as such, just too tired and not fighting back. Good stoppage, Tyson was out of gas by then
He was out of gas and there was nothing to suggest he'd be able to protect himself adequately. Even if he didn't go down, the punishment would have been unnecessary.
Tyson had already been hurt in round 10 and put up no effort to defend himself in round 11. He was finished.
Hell no! The fight was stopped right on time. Tyson was BADLY hurt both in the 10th and in the 11th round and was getting hit with brutal shots. Ref just saved him from going down for the 10 count or being knocked unconscious. I think Tyson's corner should have thrown in the towel after the 10th round to save him from further punishment and a bad beating. Just watch Tyson walk back to his corner after the 10th round. He was done for.
lol, really i think that some tyson fans would be capable to say that he was stolen. and rockysplit think that marciano would tko superman :rofl
good stoppage. tyson was almost out at the end of the 10th and then got in trouble immediately in the 11th. that is a special fight to me. it's the one that got me from a casual boxing fan to a diehard boxing fan.
Tyson was a lot more hurt than Ruddock was when he lost a TKO to Tyson - he was in worse shape than Carl Williams was when Tyson stopped him. I suppose if you think Tyson could of continued then Bruno could have continued in Tyson Bruno 1
If you watch the fight at the end they made a stink out of the stoppage being premature. Pacheco even interviewed Halpern on the telecast to ask him why he stopped the fight.
Had the 11th round barrage been a stand-alone incident, you might argue letting it go for a few more punches, but considering how obliterated Tyson was at the end of round 10, no........very good stoppage. That was good refereeing there.
The badly gassed Tyson had several kitchen sinks smashed over his head since round 6 & by the end he couldn't even hold his hands up; sensible stoppage. Tyson has claimed that from the 6th onwards, he was seeing 3 Holyfields in front of him, talk about battered!
