Yes you are right Mayweather left 140lbs because the other 2 champs (Hatton & Cotto) wanted no part of Mayweather after seeing him destroy arturo gatti...Arum who promoted BOTH Mayweather & Cotto didnt want to put Cotto in with Mayweather..and Hattons dad said Hatton wasnt ready for Mayweather....he was gonna fight Hatton & Cotto @ 140 and would have cleaned out the division....they ducked mayweather

They talk about it in the beginning of this video

Tyson/Lewis was made and that fight had the same obstacle. I know this was back at a time when Showtime did have contracted fighters, but it wasn't impossible.

It was a bad style match-up for Floyd, he and Arum knew that. Floyd has been called out by Larry Merchant in the past for not "walking the walk" when it comes to his post fight interview bravado.

I think it's entertaining stuff, actually.

Wrong. Mayweather had problems early with Corley, especially in Round 2 and Round 4 when he was rocked with a big right hand...and a left over the top later in the round.

Judah knocked him down and won three of the first four rounds.

Mitchell was shot at 147 and had been brutally stopped by Tszyu at 140.

Sure, PBF showed great heart in the Corley fight, and figured them all out eventually, but again...

    1) The three fighters don't have the stamina of Pacquiao.
    2) The three fighters don't throw from all angles out of the southpaw stance like Pacquiao. Maybe Judah.
    3) The only time I've really seen Floyd pick apart a pressure fighter who came forward at ALL TIMES was against Chavez and Augustus (Burton). Master class performances. But you're kidding yourself if those guys are Pacquiao's equal in terms of pressure. Plus they're both orthodox.

Right now I think it's a toss-up for either fighter.

Talk is cheap...Floyd has always talked a good game after fights...he's even been called out on it.

Some pretty good insight in this thread ...

    :D

In my mind, both Mayweather and Pacquiao are on a different level than any fighter that either has faced ...

The real fear is that actual fight itself might somehow not live up to our expectations ...

    :D

One thing I see in the Cotto gif is how Miguel attempts to throw from a wide angle despite being inside Manny's front foot ...
    To me,
that's a lot of risk with not much in reward ...
    and,
it seemed like Cotto took those risks frequently and paid for it ...
    By contrast,
I truly doubt Mayweather will make that kind of mistake because he loves to set up his jab and get out or simply reset his angle before Manny gets close ...

Cotto would have ended up like Gatti (or for that matter the way he ended up with Pacman).

As I have said repeatedly, PBF has been setting this fight up for years, as has Manny's management.

PBF by TKO in 6 or less.

If you've ever stepped into a ring you'd know that the key difference is that fighting a smaller man with a smaller compact frame, with ridiculous leg speed and movement can be ****ing hard to neutralize. Mayweather won't be able to spar anyone to prepare himself for Pacquiao.

Judahs speed pales in comparison to the overall speed of Pacquiao's entire body. Judah can throw 1 counter punch at a time and if it lands THEN he opens up. It doesn't relate to Pacquiao at all. So much for the other 2 fighters mentioned here who are utterly irrelevant.

Manny Pacquiao's punches come from such a small frame at such a fast speed and volume, that you can't read his punches. He doesn't telegraph and if he does, he does it so fast that you still can't read it and make a decision to react at the same time.

Floyd will be forced to outmaneuver Pacquiao on his feet while catching him off balance with right hands. If Pacquiao has an answer for Mayweather's right hand both defensively and offensively, he will win this fight off of workrate.
And if Floyd ever makes the mistake of trying to exchange in the trenches, Pacquiao will outscore him more times than Mayweather would. At this point Pacquiao is using his smaller, compact frame to his advantage on the inside with these bigger fighters.

good post but pacquiao is far better than all the fighters you highlighted,he brings more than just the southpaw stance to this fight.

 Yes, but Corley and Mitchell were ****, and Judah's stance clearly did give Floyd trouble. Floyd obviously does find southpaws more difficult than orthodox opponents.
