Jnr really could've been something with the right foundations layed at the start. He has traits that could've seen him go far with the right tuition
I think it would still sell. Jnr is a name, and he was throwing at the end against Groves all though soundly outpointed, so all is not lost. I think he wrecks this version of Degale while probably behind on points
I think saying there is a softness to Jr is a bit... off. Jrs lack of success is due to many things, softness not being one of them imo. Where are you seeing soft in him? Whats an example where hes shown it?
Senior the better fighter. The difference between them looks mainly down to two things....when eubank was learning his craft sparring....eubank junior was punching a boxing machine that a) doesn't move and b) doesn't hit back. Senior really did learn his craft. He had a much better boxing brain than junior. The second point is the son can't throw the straight right. It basically finishes him at the top level, makes him completely limited and probably is the reason he trains the way he does. The straight right is massive in boxing. It totally limits him as a fighter without it. Its actually testament to him he got as far in the game considering that and the late start. The dad was a proper fighter tho. The son was never gonna live up to that bearing in mind the late start. The nice upbringing....and the lack of being able to throw the straight right due to injury. Overall tho putting the Instagram/promotion rubbish to one side the sons proved himself as a solid fighter. He made a mistake moving up a weight they didn't quite bank on it making as much of a difference as it did. They got carried away with their own hype. Few guys are moving up a weight fighting a champion and winning it without being a bit special. He still could get success down at middleweight. Need to get that right hand sorted tho. You can't fight properly without a straight right hand.
From opening bell he appeared to be scared of getting hit IMO, Not willing to trade, not willing to put it all on the line. I expected different, I still don't think Groves could keep him on the ground but he didn't even need to.
Claiming JNR is 'soft' is a stupid claim. After losing the first 6, then 7, then 8 etc against Groves, he could've just tried to survive and not press. Instead, he amateurishly charged forward, throwing windmills and taking some huge flush shots.
