Thank You Pimp! I've been saying Peterson is an idiot for a long time, and I just got hacked on for it. Paul is something like 6' 3" but fights like he was 5' 8". That's Peterson's fault.
Agreed. He doesn't fight tall and because of his aggressive punch output he gets hit way too much. I had this very thought during the Martinez fight; that for all his talents, this kid will not last long fighting the way he's been fighting.
I agree with that...Thats what I've been thinking about as of lately...How long can you keep on taking these big shots before it starts to take a toll on your body...Only the good Lord above can probably answer that, but IMO it will catch up to him sooner or later...I think Williams needs to start working on catching punches and then countering...eating leather like that is not good for any man's career...Just look at Ali, G-Man, M. Taylor, and many others how have suffered from taking too many punches...I'm a fan of Williams but I do fear he might get hurt sooner or later...All of these iron chinned guys do eventually get this chin cracked.
I was looking at how his fight with Martinez could've been SO MUCH easier had he boxed more than trying to fight inside. I mean the guy could have jabbed away all night -- mix it up, head to body, body to head -- throw a few straight lefts. I mean mix it up at times, but don't make that your whole damn fight! lol his body is not shaped to be on the inside constantly. When he leans in he can't really put his head in another's chest as he is too damn tall, and he leans his head to right at the same time. It's like he is just so open for the right hook, or really any winging shot one may throw at times. His head sticks in the air like a giraffe. lol The guy should fight tall, behind his jab... and everything should flow from his jab. No one would beat him at that point lol, except a person who is not too much shorter than he would can take away the Jab or match him.
That's why he got KD from Sergio Martinez, his legs aren't strong enough, I really doubt he was hurt from that punch, he took plenty of punches and even harder punches and didn't go down. His chin is very good! He shouldn't go full middleweight yet until he builds up the muscle and then his chin will be even better. Once he goes middleweight and cannot make jr middleweight, his chin will be even better, and that's scary.
I ****ing hate agreeing with you but I went to the fight last Saturday and I went down to where he was walking back to the dressing room after the fight I shook his hand and shouted out "stop fighting short"
Paul puts himself in harms way by fighting short, but there's more to it. In the history of boxing, and on the current scene, some of the greatest knock out artists are tall skinny guys. Those guys derive their power from technic that maximizes leverage. I'd challenge you to study guys like Arguello, Hearns, Little Red, et, and watch how they set up their shots. It's all about leverage. I'm convinced that Paul COULD be a genuine KO artist with the right technic. So far, he hasn't shown us that. Awesome that you got to attend the fight. It was a very entertaining affair.
Yeah his trainer sucks. He needs a guy who will make him use his height, jab and sit on his shots more.
