He got countered too many times in the martinez fight. If he gets countered like that by pavlik then it will be over quick.

This is true. Williams has to learn another gear or he will be in trouble again. Good point.

Are you trying to say that Williams is in the same class as Hopkins? Pavlik lost a fight to an all time great. Williams lost a fight to Quintana and struggled with Martinez. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that Pavlik will decapitate Williams, that is, if Williams still has the balls to take the fight.

Dude, Kelly Pavlik is not in the same league as Paul Williams.
As much as I like pavlik as a person, Hopkins took his heart and he won't be the same again.

There is zero evidence that Hopkins inflicted any sort of permanent damage on Pavlik's psyche. He was in the ring 4 months later beating the **** out of his mandatory exactly like he was suppose to. If you are trying to say that Hopkins is somehow responsible for KP's hand problems, well --- that's just to far out in left field to warrant a response.

I do, however, agree that Pavlik and Williams are not the same class of fighters. We wouldn't even be talking about Pavlik/Williams if not for Pav's efforts to make the fight happen. No matter how assinine PW's demands got Pavlik told Dunkin and Top Rank to make the fight. In addition, Pavlik signed the original contract a full month BEFORE PW signed. Now that KP is healthy and still wants the fight, Team Williams plans to go in another direction.

Going in another direction is a very good idea. Williams would have exactly the same kind of post-pavlik career as Miranda and Taylor.

Booradley, Ornelas atleast won a round or 2 and he hit clean shots on Hopkins way more times then Pavlik did in which THAT'S EMBARASSING!!! Williams lost to Quintana in a close fight and he barely won vs Martinez who is also a slick southpaw fighter.

The one i put underline i got a problem with your comments. Williams demands? I didn't know he's the promoter. Really Pavlik is healthy? If he's HEALTHY! he should have pick a far better opponent then freaking 5th place tv the contender series Espino for goodness sake.

Many people won't mention this but Williams choosing Martinez as a replacement just shows once again that Williams will face any fighters. Margarito was known to many people as the most fear avoided fighter but Williams step up to the plate and fought Margarito, Quintana has the style that many top fighters don't want to fight until Williams step up and fight him. Wright who wanted to fight Pavlik in ohio and other top fighters but didn't get a response in return and Williams choose to fight him. Nobody wanted to fight Martinez who is slicker then both Quintana and Wright but Williams choose him. And did i forgot to mention that Williams just fought 2 defensive southpaw fighters in a row? That's impressive in itself.

No one is questioning Paul's heart. It's his brains, his technique, his skill, and his trainer that are under scrutiny. Paul fights every fight the same way. He tries to employ a "blitzkrieg" strategy. In head a head on collision with a true middleweight with power PW will get knocked the **** out brutally. He belongs at 147-154. 160 gets him hurt.
