Usyk said yesterday that after he becomes undisputed he will go back to his family and enjoy his kids growing up. Translation: he will retire. At the beginning of his career he already stated that straight after becoming undisputed he will retire. So he will fight aj again and in the end of next year fury. Win or lose there he will retire
I think that's fair enough and totally understandable. He'd have nothing left to prove if he achieved all that. No point defending the belts against B-Level opposition like Whyte or Joyce. He's come to HW to fight the best and win. If he does that there's nothing else left for him to do in the sport.
Where does he stand then legacy wise? Best cruiser of all time imo and probably top 10 heavy of all time if he really beats fury
If he achieved all that then he'd have to be put right up there. In the context of being considerably smaller than Joshua and Fury - if he achieved all that then he'd have to be seen as one of the best ever. Would be a phenomenal career.
But that would leave him with an inferior record to Joshua, for example, who has beaten countless "top 10" guys like Takam, Breazeale, Parker, Molina, Martin, Povetkin, Pulev and so on... He needs to prove that he can beat these legends, otherwise he will never be on Joshua's level.
Exactly what he should do. Achieve everything, retire. I don't want to see him fighting to failure and sacrificing his health, he doesn't need to.
