thats a good observation man. bunch of glory hunting fans on here.

loses are supposed to be learning curves anyway. if lee's got a strong mindset, he'd easily bounce back from this.

Lee will still become a champion. I hope he gets a rematch. He did not use his right hook, did not do what he was supposed to have done. He will be back. Tommy Hearns was knocked out by Iran Barkley!

I hope other referees do not start stopping fights so soon. I don't hear any complaining about Pryor, who looked awful tonight, deserved to have lost.

Thank you, great post, and will people stop saying fighters need to "hang it up" after their first loss.

Come on man.. People were calling this guy champ already and he hasnt even beat a decent fighter yet. I dont think that its that big of a deal that he lost to Vera, Vera is a good fighter that got caught by a big shot that would have knocked out most of the middleweights ranked in the top 10.

I really think that alot of the comments now are more targeted at the people that were building this kid up as a great fighter before he proved anything in the ring. In many ways alot of people on this broad rely on what others say about fighter. Many of the guys that post here post about fighters that they had never really seen fight. For those that thought that Vera would be a walk in the park for Lee, this came as a shock. I wast shocked, cuz there is no way that you could assess how good a guy like lee is in relation to Vera based on the guys that he had fought to this point. that is one of the biggest mistakes that people make on this site.

In the end this lost doesnt mean that Lee will never become a champion. Many fighters have lost fights just like that and went on to do some great things in boxing. Its just some backleash that fans that hype the hell out of guys have to expect to come when the guy that they are hyping gets waxed like Lee got Waxed. you just have to take it. Lee backers were putting it out there and lets be honest he let them down so deal with it.

Who says he needs to hang it up?

Hell, even ESPN level TV warrior's can make a decent living, anybody who said that is a moron. Look at Duddy, he's got even LESS potential than Lee and is getting paid 100,000+ as it stands.

Andy Lee will learn from this loss. He brawls but he had to box. Emanuel Steward will help him to become a better defense fighter so Emanuel does with Wladimir Klitschko.

Andy Lee is young and he will become Champion.

Yea and then he barely squeezed by Mccline getting knocked down 3 times in the process. Mccline is a Vera of the heavyweight division :D

First of all let me say that that was the gayest stoppage to date in boxing history. I never heard of a fighter getting stopped especially after he threw a fluid punch that landed.

Second, how weak was it of Emmanuel Steward to say that he was ok with that stoppage? You're this guys manager and trainer, you're supposed to have a problem w/ that - it was a premature stoppage.

Third, I thought Steward did a terrible job ... It seems as if - if his fighter isn't dominating the fight there are no adjustments being made. I didn't hear anything about Manny telling Lee to throw more combonations -- He could've gotten Vera out of there early if he would've doubled up the jab, hooked off the jab, threw an uppercut followed by a straight punch ... what happened to telling you fighter to clinch when you find yourself in trouble.

This reminded me of Taylor v Pavlik, Hearns v Leonard, and Harris v Maussa, fighters who lost and got KO'd being trained by Steward.

Steward said that because Lee was taking a beatting. He was ok with the stoppage because letting lee take more could have ruined him as a fight. My guess is that Steward was kicking the idea of stopping the fight himself around.
