Exactly. This guy is for REAL. He's kind of the anti-Khan. He takes on durable fighters who've never been stopped, while Khan takes on fighters whose records virtually guarantee they won't stop him!!!:yep Khan's management KNOWS something here, it's obvious. However, as we have seen, with Khan's brittle whiskers, they are NO guarantees. Even the light-hitters can potentially take him out. What Gamboa would do to him wouldn't be pretty. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see a Tyson-Spinks type outcome.
Precisely my good man. Khan is loaded with cream puffs on his record, which is fair considering his age, but the hype is BEYOND irritating to an insane degree, as even young, you can tell what they will amount to and what they have and he has very little for the top level. And Gamboa takes on a legit, durable, hard punching fringe contender in his 10th fight. Experience is widely different, but the hype is not, both are hyped heavily, the difference is that Gamboa can deliver and will be fighting for a title very soon.
Khan's an exciting prospect, fellers! Cannot wait to see me how he does later on this year. Word on the street is he's moving to the US of A! Sure would do him some good; he'd have his whiskers tested that's for sure!
Khan is a good prospect, anyone who doesn't think so is bullshitting. But yes, the hype is way too much.
Fighters with china chins rarely go places. Not a good prospect. He doesn't even have a big punch to compensate for it and his boxing skills will get better, but he will never be a defensive wizard. It's a wash, he's nothing to look forward to.
There is no way Khan will ever be a top fighter. Guys like Juan Diaz, who aren't considered huge punchers, would knock him out bad. He can't take punches of small, feather fisted guys so he has no chance of beating world class opponents. What I found reall wierd is Khan putting on so much muscle. he's only young so his body will naturally grow in a few years. by then, he is going to be a welterweight considering the amount of muscle he's put on. Khan at lightweight is a big KO waiting to happen. Khan against a top 10 welter is murder. I called his glass chin when I saw him get hurt in the amatuers a while ago. This was proven later on when he got hurt against another amatuer on TV. It has never improved. As a pro he has suffered a delayed stumble and been knocked on his arse against weak punchers. A fighter can get by with a weak chin. Look at Terry Norris, for instance. However, if you do have a glass jaw, you need to be able to cover it. Khan has two weaknesses. Awful punch resistance and no defence. He won't beat a serious fighter in his entire career.
Good post, i agree also. The way he destroyed Earl was certainly impressive. I haven't seen anyone on the site claiming him to be the next big thing. In fact, i rarely see him hyped at all. I think he is an interesting prospect. His amatuer pedigree, and his natural ability and defences lapses will make him an exciting fighter to watch. For someone who is very young, he does possess potential. Obviously at this point, i wouldn't pick him over any of the top guys in the division, and he is in a talent loaded division at the moment (with guys like Diaz, Campbell, Guzman, Pac, JMM, Casa) all looking at getting their shot. Still, if he keeps on growing as a fighter, and keeps stepping it up gradually then who knows. I don't think the path they have put him on so far has been too bad, especially not for a 20 year old fighter. There is no need to rush.
I am very much itching to see Khan in some action. I don't recall getting to watch a single one of his fights live. Anybody have some good links to see some of his fights?? would be much appreciated.
I see him winning the WBO title and after he wins the WBO title, he'll stay in the U.K defend it for his entire life against bums and tomato cans who don't have a punch and retire undefeated.
