    This.

These people think that boxing is somekind of no holds barred, gangsta back yard street brawl and that sucker punching is OK. no it's not, and neither is headbutting or using elbows. so STFU.

This probably won't convince you but I'll give it a try:

    1) Floyd DID show good sportsmanship. He tapped gloves not once but twice with Ortiz. Floyd waited for the second hug and glove tap to be completed then he threw his left hook as a warning shot. Vic still kept his hands down so I guess he actually wanted to get KO'd. Then after the fight Floyd was the first to show sportsmanship by confronting Vic and giving him a hug.

    2) Boxing can have its fair share of bad boys and still be able to keep its professionalism. Taking away the Tysons, Mayweathers, Alis, Robinsons, Mayorgas, etc. is like taking away a large percentage of sugar in a cake. I really don't think Mayweather is ruining the sport. Smart fans see him as a character and don't use him as a good example for kids. You'd be a millionaire if I gave you a penny each time you named a rock star/entertainer with a troubled life. Accept it for what it is. Without athletes or personas that you despise there would be less passion in the sport. Love and hate work like day and night. Both need to exist. Morales and Barrera would brawl during a press conference and showed hostility after a boxing match. Don't tell me this act of "unprofessionalism" and unsportsmanlike conduct didn't make their rivalry more exciting!

    3) It's time to let go of unwritten rules. They're training wheels for adolescents involved in sports. Professional leagues are a different level which consists of athletes who are expected to be mentally and physically strong enough to overcome situations which soccer moms complain about.

Please don't ever mention Floyd and these two in the same sentence again. People don't pay $70 to watch a press conference, and whatever animus took place at the conference was left outside the ring, which is where it really mattered.

At the end of the day. Yes, this IS a sport, but when that bell goes, its protect yourself at all times.

People crying about Ortiz getting KTFO.

This is the fight game, if you cant take the heat, dont come in the kitchen.

Go watch football, where they fall over and dive and then start crying to the ref.

Great comment written by someone called 'the underdog' in response to said article:

'Boxing cannot be compared to other sports. simply because you play basketball, tennis or football but you don't play boxing. Inside the ring there are codes no written as we see them in most of the fights, when a fighter fouls the opponent and then apologizes like Ortiz did. What we don't see often is the opponent taking advantage of the apology. Ortiz committed a blatant foul for which he should have been disqualified, when he realized what he has done his first concern was to apologize trusting that Mayweather would accept it. Cortez also played a big role in the incident for not keeping them apart like he did in the Judah fight.'

    1) Floyd still suckerpunched Ortiz. 'Warning left hook'? That's a new one.

    2) Boxing can have its share of fighters with a bad boy persona/image. But I don't wanna see suckerpunching, headbutts or ear biting in the ring. I don't need that ****. Inside the ring, I wanna see boxing from these bad boys. Muhammad Ali, SRR (a bad boy?), they all fought clean, gave to the world the fights it wanted to see, and fought often. So did a true 'bad boy' like James Toney. Compare that to what Floyd did.

    3) Boxing is a sport and there are unwritten rules in every sport. There will always be unwritten rules in boxing. Period.

    perfect post

floyd touched gloves twice and did the hug

any way sportsmanship went out the window after the head butt

i was and am totally ok with the way that fight ended

the same thing happens in all sports, dont get mad get even

1st rule, protect at all times, there is no rule saying hugs are mandatory

stupid ass ortiz lost the biggest fight and check of his life because he wanted a hug what a dickhead

People need to lay off of Floyd, here's a dude that was just busted in the mouth by an illegal headbutt. Why wait til this punk gets his guards up (after he just used his head as a weapon that resulted in a busted lip in two places)?

Floyd is a genius.... clock him as soon as the opportunity presents itself.... and that's what he did... end of fight, good night.

if ortiz hit floyd during the hug and KO'd him we would hail him as a genius and Floyd as the biggest moron ever
