Completely agree with the OP. Many old timer boxing fans I speak to have lost interest in the sport. This is a gentleman's sport, the sweet science. What Ortiz did was wrong, but Mayweather is a veteran and should have taken the higher road. Imagine if he would have knocked him out later in the fight with honor, he would have gained respect instead of lost it. What he did was legal, but can anyone imagine the ATGs doing that?

 

I was pulling for Ortiz but his behaviour really pisssed me off. First intentional headbutt and then how many times is he going to apologize? He already apologized in the corner, he kissed him which would **** me off as well, a hug and I dont know what else he wanted to do suck his dick ?

You can twist this story about sportmanship anyway way you wanna but the truth is Ortiz didnt realize nothing. What he did was premeditated and with the intent to do great bodily harm to Mayweather. Fighters know when thier opponent is not just boxing but actually trying to hurt them. At that point, sportmanship be dammed and protect yourself at all times becomes the law of the land. You dont have to live with the damage he did and couldve done to Mayweather. Its not your face getting broke up by some illegal **** so its easy for you to take the moral high ground. That apoligy that Ortiz offered was bull**** and treated as such by Floyd. Floyd is a sportsman and hes showed that on several occasions, but he aint no punk and he showed Ortiz that.
