Being an all-time great isn't about 'who beats who'. If that is the case, then someone like Jack Johnson wouldn't deserve to be ranked anywhere noticeable because he fought in an era alien to what we say today. His style is alien too and would be ineffective today. Does he deserve to be ranked ahead of Vitali? Of course.
Stupid post of the day. I'm sure before the end of day you'll post others just as dumb. :rofl:rofl:rofl Johnson's style was THE MOST effective of his day. If he were fighting today, he'd simply adjust his style to today's standards. LOL, what a dunce you are Jack London !!! :yep
the problem with vitali is simple: wladimir. vitali was the heir apparent to lewis's throne, everyone expected him to dominate. he had a great chance to unify the belts against byrd or ruiz, but he took a money fight with williams, got injured and left for 4 years. in the mean time wlad has dominated, cleaned up and established his greatness with a 5 year reign at the helm of the division. vitali, for all his potential will be known as a nearly man. 2nd best to Lewis, 2nd best to wlad. Because of his impressive longevity and comeback he's probably pushed himself to about the bowe/norton level. ATG, I'm not so sure, I think that should be reserved for like the top 15 HW's.
Fair qustion. Let's start: Lewis Ali Foreman Tyson Liston Frazier Bowe Holyfield (prime) Louis (prime) Baer Dempsey J Johnson 8 more needed folks, join in.
You're so far beneath me, the top of my toe would appear as the Grand Canyon to you, Wimp. :smoke Do us all a favor and post the link to all that made up crap you posted, Suzy Q. :yep
I can easily name 20 fighters greater than vitali: louis ali rocky johnson holmes foreman lewis tyson holyfield frazier dempsey liston wladimir sullivan jeffries langford charles walcott tunney wills corbett jeanette patterson schmelling baer norton vitali bowe sharkey fitzsimmons McVey.
usually when people make lists they use the term ATG to reference the complete package (resume, legacy, skills etc) under these lists vitali doesn't do to well. the other type of lists are H"H (who beats who) these are entirely subjective and it's hard to gain any consensus.
by contrats my H2H top 10 list would be louis ali liston tyson holmes lewis foreman wladimir bowe vitali
Agreed. It should be based on this; -Quality of opponents -COMPETITIVE Match ups -Win/Lose Ratio -Performance -Ring Generalship -Superior Technique displayed in the above scenarios :yep
A plethora of emoticons merely proves vacuity. Baer destroyed a similar fighter. No doubt modern Vitali is somewhat better, but I'd still take a Baer. Why bring up Sullivan when I didn't? Bugner--wouldn't surprise me if he beat Vitali at all. Thanks. Add Bugner to the list. 7 more please.
Note that on my list, I was serious and didn't just throw out boilerplate names. E.g., I don't think Rocky could have beaten Vitali as some scream.
