yeah see heres the thing...when your cotto and you fight the best..eventually your gonna lose ...but if your like mayweather and cherry pick down the line ...you don'thave to worry about loseing
wrong. you floyd boys love to rewrite history. arum offered 8m no options. even pbf did noit deny that. when tr got tired of waiting for a response, they signed the clottey fight. at which point pbf tried to make a fight with spinks. when that did not materialize, he signed with goosen for the baldomir fight, for allegedly 8m but goosen got options on pbf next fight dlh. so don't ghet it twisted. financially the margarito fight was more lucrative for pbf, but simply too much risk.
frankly i'm not offended that cotto lost ... i take great pride in the fact that my fighter fought a guy whose been ducked by some of the best fighters of the last 10 years ...the mosleys ..the delahoyas ..mayorgas... mayweathers.. they all ducked him instead of having to risk it ... cotto went in there and stood toe to toe and went blow for blow with the guy ...something some of you chumps favorite fighters can't say
How was the fight more lucrative when Floyd got atleast as much fighting Baldomir? I don't see the logic. Floyd got the lineal title and atleast 8 mil, what is more lucrative than that deal?
I agree but he still could have faced Margo. He was right to fight Baldomir. Baldomir was the lineal champ. Some people who critisize Floyd for fighting Baldomir also have a go at Pac for not fighting Campbell (holds most belts at lightweight) or Casamayor (lightweight lineal champ) which is quite hypocritical in my book. However, although Margo only held the WBO belt and wasn't well known to the greater public most knowledgable boxing fans and boxer's themselves knew how dangerous Margo was. In an ideal world boxing should be about the best fighting the best. It doesn't matter if that fighter isn't well known to the public. If you know a guy is good you should take the risk and fight him. It's all very well having the public say "he beat this well known boxer. He must be great". But what is more important is that at the end of your career you can look in the mirror and know and feel proud that, in terms of boxing ability, you fought all the top guys out there. Im fed up of boxer's avoiding certain boxer's because they are 'high risk, low reward'. However you can't blame Floyd entirely for this. Many fighter's before him have done this and im sure many fighter's after him will do it.
Thats why i threw the word "nearly" in there. Im aware he didn't make as much for Baldo. Curse the guy for taking less money in a WBC and Lineal Title fight...
I have respect for Cotto, but lets get real, he only wanted to fight Margarito after Paul beat him. I want to know why he ducked Paul.
because goosen had options on his next fight ... the margarito fight would have been a win over a guy nobody wanted to face ... it would have met no options just 8 mil straight cash .. no bull attached... it would have met ..meeting his most dangerous opponet yet ... but instead he got in there and ran from baldi all night
Yea how convenient. Margarito has to trash the whole division while CHUMP gets to sit back and say when and where he'll fight him. **** that. Margarito will make his own money without that coward. Believe it!
Would fighting Margarito give him the lineal title and the recognition as #1 WW. Seems to me that it was worth it. Fighting Margarito would have at best just given him a paper title and he wouldn't be the WW champ.
good to see little floyd has some backers. Its just amazing that they can interpret an 8 million turn down (which would have been biggest purse to date) into good business deal. DUCK DUCK DUCKING if you say anything else you are full of ****.
Cotto should have won that fight but he didn't have the gameplan or the ring intelligence to make the necessary adjustments. You are proud of your fighter for fighting another fighters OBVIOUS gameplan and losing? That's pretty ****ed up! He knew exactly what Margo was gonna do and had months to prepare and all he could figure out is how to get KO'd? Were you also proud when Gatti tried to "outbox" Floyd? ****...
