watched the whole card as there was a lot of fighters i wanted to see and il break down every fight Devin haney vs Rafael Vazquez - Haney won but didnt look impressive overall. He showed a lot of natural ability ,speed and some good technique. however he looked very open at times and slightly clueless on how to go about the job against a very limited fighter. Maybe he was too eager to please but he had a lot of defensive gaps and his attacks were clueless and showed a lack of ring iq and ablity to breakdown a fighter. Mayweather Snr in the corner was literally terrible, and for a 17 year old his adivce was terrible. he kept telling devin 'iv nothing to tell you your doing everything already'. when in reality he was applying tons of uneducated pressure, looking sloppy and showing no ability to read his opponent and set up punches. good advice would be for him to slow it down ,read his opponent and let him come to him. i give his performance over considering the level of opponent a C- Leon Bauer vs Illshat Khusnulgatin - quiet a step up for a guy as young as bauer and was a good hard competitive fight, scorecards had him by a shut out but it was closer in reality but he still won. On the plus side he has very good natural boxing abililty, his movement is quiet good especially defensively and good head movement. on the negative side he is still very raw and looks quiet unpolished and sloppy at times which you would expect from a 17 year old. Illshat was a good level of competition but bauer had a bit too much for him. The kid has potential but he really needs to work hard on developing his skills and not moving too quickly. id give the performance a B- Egidijus Kavaliauskas vs Deniz Ilbay - egid pitched a shut against a game and tough ilbay. Ilbay took a lot of punchment a showed a granite chin. egid showed a very well rounded skillset and patient game plan. landed some good combo. he is ready to move up and showed great technical ability. B+ Konstantin Ponomarev VS Brad Solomon - didnt see all this fight but a split decision was way off ponomarev won 8-7 rounds clearly. Solomon gassed a bit but that had a lot to do with ponomarevs insane workrate. Pono lacks power however the level of pressure he exerts is insane he just keeps coming. reminds me of Dmitry Mikhaylenko, insane workrate but lacking in power, and but more unortodox at times. he is ready for a step up. B Oleksandr Gvodsyk vs Nadjib Mohammedi - round one Gvodsyk didnt do much, similar to fellow ukrainians lomachenko and usyk he works his opponent out. Mohammedi was busy and taken advantage of this and may have s****ped the round on work rate. in the second Gvodsyk had him already worked out and landed a huge counter striaght right to separate mihammedi from his senses and win in impressive fashion. this step up is long ever due and proves me right when iv said arum has been holding this guy back for way too long. he needs a chilemba or forfana nexted, he is ready for the best just needs 1 or 2 longer fights against contenders. A+ Jose Ramirez vs Manuel Perez - didnt pay too much attention to this fight but Ramirez won in decent fashion, perez was game but limited and managed to win a round or two. not overly impressive from ramirez and i was expecting him to be able to set up his punches better, needs more work. C- Oscar Valdez vs Evgeny Gradovich - I backed Valdez by ko and boy did he deliver. complete master class he broke gradovich down and busted up his face and while i think gradovich could have continued after the knock down there was no pount he was getting beaten senseless. valdez looked a complete fighter, he moves well, has got every punch in the book his body punching is amazing and he has power. he beats everyone at featherweight not named lomachenko imo. A+ Artur Abraham vs Gilberto Ramirez - this was a weird fight. Abraham fought like it was in Germany and all he had to do was walk forward doing nothing to win rounds. he was terrible and barelly threw any punches. Ramirez to his credit moves well and made the most of his huge size advantage getting his work off and getting out of range before abrahman could get close. BUt abraham was terrible and looked only there fora paycheck. Ramirez defense when abraham applied any pressure looked like it had massive holes, and even though ramirez is half a foot taller abraham was able to land straight rights with suprising accuracy. in saying that ramirez can only beat whats in front of him which wasnt much at all and because of that iv to give him a solid B. However he will struggle hugely with any fighter near the top of his division that is over 6 foot and applies pressure. Callum smith imo would put a serious beating on him Pacman vs Bradley - didnt actually care too mcuh for the main evetn a lot of close rounds but the knock downs seprated pacman and made it a clear victory, even without them he would have won. after the knock downs he took over a bit and we saw glimpses of the old pacman but he looks like he cant pull the trigger anymore and is past his sell by date, but still a good performance. B+ I think this was one of the most enjoyable boxing cards iv watched in a long time, maybe because it had 9 fights id an interest in and a lot of them delivered. :good
