Seems to me Enzo is talking like that because this is his son. He knows Hopkins is a dirty fighter, and what father would be "ok" with a fighter whose going to use dirty tactics to hurt his son. It didn't sound to me as if he said anything bad about American Boxing. As with Hopkins' lead right, I don't think it's fully used to ram his head into the other guy but more he's been able to know where the punch will land without keeping his head upright and open for a counter.

I wouldn't believe a word Enzo Calzaghe says to be honest.

    Here are some classics:

'Gavin Rees is a world class fighter. It is time people gave him the respect he deserves. Ricky Hatton is a great guy and ambassador for British boxing, but I would back Gavin to win, against either him or Junior Witter, by KO.'

'David Haye hasn't been in with anyone like Enzo before. Fair enough, he did well to beat a faded Mormeck, but still had to get off the floor. Don't even mention that Polish pudding (Bonin!) who he fought at heavyweight.'

'Fair enough, it was a good KO, but if he had gone the 12 rounds with Enzo, he would have been hammered into retirement. Enzo made some stupid mistakes and paid for it. Big deal.'

Now, our Enzo is an excellent trainer, but since winning the Ring trainer of the year has become rather absurd in his assessments of both his fighters, and their opponents. The crass remarks regarding Carl Froch and Clinton Woods were unnecessary, and his ridiculous suggestion that Gary Lockett will hammer Pavlik just says it all.

    Enzo - wake up.

Haha, he says Hopkins "throws a right hand lead with his head" :D

You know Hopkins will use every dirty or close-to-be illegal tactic to win this one... Calzaghe better prepare for that and try to avoid especially the situations where he can get a cut...

I think Joe must have caught him accidentally when they were working the pads - his head hasn't cleared yet.

Enzo is clearly worried about illegal tactics including headbutts which could result in a cut.

I worry that Joe's increased power at light heavyweight equals more chance of damaging those fragile hands.

This fight is gonna be a test for Joe for sure.

Yeah but they're talking about Joe having increased power at light heavyweight. So, if he hits harder there's more chance of damaging his already fragile hands. Agreed or is my logic flawed?

Hmmm thats if you believe what the Calzaghe camp are saying about him punching that much harder than before.....that said even a light puncher can break his hand if the wrist turns funny or the knuckle hits the head awkwardly

Bigger gloves in Nevada will negate the extra power Joe's feeling...
