Pavlik's destruction of Gary Lockett played a small roll in Joe's recent choices and running commentary. That's my opinion. Obviously I'm not a mind reader, but I think it went something like this: Joe talked about fighting Pavlik non-stop from September 2007 to January 2008. The last time we have a clear and undeniable record of Joe saying he wanted to fight Pavlik was before the Pavlik/Taylor rematch. I believe that prior to that fight Joe thought he could make the McKart plan work: "This kid's never been past 9 rounds. I'm just gonna take him out in deep water and drowned him." When Kelly injured both hands, and still scored a UD over Taylor, doubt set in. Joe came to the USA and faced off against his first P4P opponent. He barely squeaked past a 43 year old career middlewieght. A man who lost 2 fights to a guy Pavlik beat twice. The doubt got worse. Pavlik destroyed Lockett in under 3 rounds. Joe watched that fight, and thought about his own sparring with Lockett. At the same time Enzo got his first up close and personal look at KP, and that put the final nail in the coffin.
Bull****, Lockett Is a domestic level fighter and Joe's leagues above both Lockett and Pavlik. Joe would make Pavlik look like the chinny amateur he Is. You don't get floored by a fighter who couldn't drop Light middleweights.
atsch There's an obvious hole in your argument, and it basically involves Taylor, Winky Wright, Hopkins, and Calslappy flat on his arse.
