    I do find Maccarinelli's excuses a touch rum. He lost because, in my opinion, he was never that good to begin with. He over achieved with Enzo C and I don't really see him improving vastly under a different trainer.

    I agree Dan, Enzo has done very well with what he's got. I can't see any significant improvements coming from him.

    I know I've had a few things to say about the Calzaghes over the years but I hope they do stick around. They definitely offer something to boxing and it would be a shame to lose them entirely.

    You have to laugh at Maccarinelli's criticism. He lost because he was a **** boxer.

    It dont explain how he was so exhausted though at the end.

    He is usually fit as a flea.

    I'd be tempted to blame that on the lack of sparring, as with the falling in after throwing punches and lack of confidence behind his jab etc.

    He was also putting a lot of effort into his punches, he was determined to get a knockout, and pushing for it that hard is more tiring as well.

    People go to the extreme when writing him off as a trainer. You do not produce three world class boxers from childhood without being a good trainer.
