As David Haye once put it....

"Mr Bean could have train Joe Calzaghe and he still would have been a world champion"

He believed his own hype, was not a great trainer just very fortunate but i'd say he is as good as many other trainers currently operating in the UK.

Enzo is definitely amongst the top 3 trainers we have here.

Which of the following is Enzo Calzaghe more knowledgable then?

    Oliver Harrison
    Robert McCraken
    Richie Woodhall
    Anthony Farnell
    John and Dominic Ingle
    Billy Nelson
    Brian Hughes
    Chris Aston
    Billy Graham
    David Cowdwell
    Joe Gallagher

These are just guys local to me; i'm not too up on the London trainers but I know there are plenty of good ones.

I can answer it for you if you want CHJ? Being in the fortunate position of training international class amateurs to fight journeyman doesn't make you a world class trainer.

His tactical short comings were cruely exposed when Gary Lockett was so badly outclassed by an american club fighter who got lucky- Lockett could have won that fight if geared correctly. Enzo M was lawnmowed by david Haye. Pryce trading with Mathew Hall, Enzo losing to alowabi.

Enzo was winning the Swaby fight until he got caught and i'd suggest that the defeat and sparring with Joe Calzaghe brought him on more then anything else.

Calzaghe was a great fighter but watch his amateur fights and he was pretty much identical to his older pro version. Enzo wasn't responsible for training him it was someone else (gaz s can advise) and i'm pretty sure he didn't train Rees or Pryce from childhood, they only came to him when they turned pro.

Enzo looks to be very good at motivating guys to get fit but little else. With Rees, Pryce and Enzo M all sporting less then adonis physiques i'm tempted to suggest that its actually more their natural talent then any magic ingrediants that Enzo has added that has led to their success.

Enzo calzaghe made the best of what he had ,in the case of his boy he was always going to be world class , Fine , if he trained also rans to world titles well that speaks volumes to me , whats not to like about him ? he loves boxing and is funny as **** . Stop knocking the wee fella FFS the Enzo Calzaghe's of British boxing keep us in with a shout on the world wide scene , you can bet your ass there is a kid somewhere from abercome**** busting his gut training to catch his eye hoping he will train him one day to world class level .and who's to say he won't ?

I think Camp Calzaghe are a bunch of amateurs

    Just their attitudte towards things

Gavin Rees - will go on the **** - rather than train

Enzo Calzaghe dosent even allow skipping in his gym

He is a decent trainer - but I just feel the whole camp were amaterish

    For example

    for the David Haye fight

Enzo was doing light sparring with - Gavin Rees and Bradley Price

Then he just gets thrown in with someone a big and powerful and good as Haye

they couldnt even hire some tough heavyweight from London or something to give him a few weeks sparring

They though pads and the bag and running up steps was enough

And pitty patter sparring with the little guys

Meanwhile Haye was sparring all these tough heavyweights out in Miami

Enzo didnt even have sparring for Ola Alfobai fight

    Amaterish

Who knows Flint but i heared he is up Manchester way with a new trainer and he is going back to basics , Charlie Pearson and Macca did well for a time then he went to Enzo Cal , Was Macca just drafted in to spar with Joe ? Did Old Enzo reall have plans for Macca ? Who the **** knows one thing is for sure Macca's next fight will determine the rest of his career , Win and he can become a major player in the cruiser division despite what the hates say , lose then thats his ****ing arse at the top draw level , say what you like about Macca but he is 100 % above the ****s on this site who relish in his recent bad form .

I didn't realize Kerry Hope had left the Calzaghe camp too, perhaps that's related to the reason why he didn't box on the Newport show last week (he was scheduled to).

Not much left in the Calzaghe gym now then - Pryce and Rees (neither of whom I can see achieving anymore than what they already have), James Todd, Hari Miles (who I can't see going too far, the way he carries his southpaw right hand he's a knock-out waiting to happen) and I'm not sure if Tony Docherty is still with Calzaghe, as I haven't seen or heard anything of him in a while.

    He has to win

    Its the only opition.

I dont think Enzo wants to be a british level journeyman

not when he has tasted fighting for world titles and fighting on huge shows like the Millienium Stadium in Cardiff and being the main event at the O2 arena London.

He has fought for WBO and WBA and WBC World Crusierweight titles

He wants to get back to the top of the sport again

I think Joes retirement knocked the heart out of the gym

    He was their role model

And training alongside him gave them great motivation

and the chance for the likes of Enzo to be chief support at his big fights

Now he has gone - their hearts have gone from the gym
