What a funny thing to say, given how many people have been crapping all over Joe ever since Ward beat Dawson. Obviously people care enough about Calzaghe that they think saying Ward is better/will be better/has surpassed/will surpass him is something meaningful.

 

three things can be safely said at this stage about what Joe did better than Ward - Joe Cal has had a longer career, more defences, currently greater proven longevity than Ward and was better protected/managed for maintaining a zero loss.


On observation I would say Joe's fitness is better too, since it was Joe's prime weapon - he was abler to outgass twentysomethings whilst he was midthirties. Theres definitely something cool about being able to outgass opponents, Joe Cal is like the long distance runner of the SMWs.

 

And I'm sure his name coming up has nothing to do with the fact that Calslappy came out after the Super Six and said he would have beaten Ward.

Ward also doesn't have most of his fights stopped prematurly either unlike Joe with his so called 70% KO ratio!
