This is exactly the kind of Calzaghe "fans" I can't stand.

Guys like him voted in a poll a few days ago, claiming Hopkins is in his prime right now.

The fact is he won...great move on...... i am not even going to start the prime for prime debate cause i think its stupid.

Roy looked terrible start to finish and didnt even look like a cheap imitation of the guy who was fighting 2000-2002 and even before.

Dont try and sell us bull**** - i knew before the fight he just wouldnt be competitive. Anyone who knows anything about boxing should have made thousands on this fight. It was NEVER going to be competitive.

I bet quite handsomely on Joe and i dont even particularly follow him. If i had more money i would have bet more because there was never a doubt that Roy would lose.

When did I try to sell you bull****? :huh

I was refering to the other guy, who claims Roy was in the best shape of his life for the Calzaghe fight.

    We both quoted him.

It's a shame that we never could find out...with the way Jones was ducking everyone...man he didn't fight anyone worth mentioning after 1994!!

He was past his prime in 2000!!

When were his prime years in your opinion and why? I truly believe that he knew his best years were behind him as early as 1998.

Don't you remember all of the horrible Pay-per-view shows he tried to cram down our throats? Did you really think that beating the "huggy man" John Ruiz was a real accomplishment?

There were many heavyweights in Ruiz's league throughout the years mate.

As much as people want to downplay the Ruiz win, if it was something easy or ordinary, I bet many more fighters would have achieved the same thing (=beating a Ruiz-level heavyweight coming up from MW).

    That's my point.

Joe would've been a *ahem* (Lennox moment) a tough cookie but I know Roy would make Cal dance all over the ring. Yes, I know. Joe's style could be taken apart, Jones would've picked him piece by piece. At the time when Jones was still cocky and his body in good condition, he was untouchable. Besides, Joe picked Roy to fight him.

    Cherry Picking.

There are a lot of weak Ruiz-type heavyweights out there, but very few of them every get to carry the gold...when he saw that Johnny Ruiz had the gold, he went for it!! So did James Toney. If Gomez wins the title somehow, you might see kessler move up..lol!!

My point is that it's really not that big of a deal. He was never considered the "champ" at heavy. He was merely a title holder. A really weak one also.

You didn't see him challenging Klitschko or Lewis, the other title holders at the time.

That fight was a joke...Ruiz is an embarrassment to heavyweight boxing. The Jones/Ruiz fight is what put the Heavyweight division in the toilet.
