So, you're saying you never considered Mayweather the champ at welter cause he beat Baldo?

That's not the way it works mate.

There are/were many titlists out there who are not really A-level fighters, but I did not see any other fighter in many years accomplish what Roy did. For another fighter to come up multiple divisions and take the title away from a B-level champ as Ruiz, it takes skills and it's a great accomplishment, no matter how low you rate Ruiz. He was champion.

I repeat, as you did not answer this: If it was such an easy task, wouldn't more fighters have done what Jones did?

i know how it works, mate!! Baldo was the recognized champ when Mayflower beat him.

And I thought I did answer your question..."There are a lot of weak Ruiz-type heavyweights out there, but very few of them every get to carry the gold"

    lol @ Mayflower

So when they get to carry the gold, where are all those fighters coming from many divisions lower, and getting the gold?

Can you name some other fighters who have done that?

i can't even remember when a heavyweight title holder was as weak as John Ruiz...ever!! Maybe Chris Byrd...wait a minute Chris Bryd actually beat David Tua...nevermind.

That's my point...when he saw the weak title holder, he took advantage of the situation. Just like Mayberry!! At least PB & J fought the universally recognized champ of the division. Ruiz, at the time, was just the WBA title holder...Don King wouldn't let him fight anyone outside of the stable...until Roy jones.

I give you that, mate. But no matter how you see it, a former Middleweight beating a Heavyweight is pretty impressive, you don't see that everyday.

    PS: Mayberry

no you don't see that everyday...I think roy could have done a lot more with his talent...just like Calzaghe, I think Roy wasted his prime by feasting on class C fighters.

Anyway, I am going to bed...it's 12:43 here in Texas, USA!!

    Good chating with you!!

Wrong, Roy fought like hell to get that fight and finally ended up text-messaging Joe on his personal cell phone and Joe eventually agreed to the fight so long as there was a 50\50 split in prizemoney. Roy stalked Joe for that fight and was confident of victory as were many of his fellow fighters including Hopkins. Do some research before you post. You were caught just talking out of your ass. Actually most Cal haters seem to do that.

Hopkins is in his prime right now, hence why he just pulled off his 2 greatest performances ever in his last 2 fights.

Based on what? Jones was obliterated by a shot Calzaghe, no ones beaten Calzaghe, I agree, Calzaghe is so far ahead of Jones, a prime v prime is just the same as the current versions, except, a prime Jones gets KO'ed or sits in his chair and doesnt come out by round 4.

A fair few pro boxers picked Roy (Lewis another), journalist, and a hell of a lot of fans ( including many on here that said Calzaghe would win even though it was just a cover up!)

Joe proved that any version of RJJ couldn't live with any version of a pro fighting Calzaghe.

Oh my god. Are you serious? Really?

Forget about Joe for a second. You remember how RJJ looked this weekend right? Well now take a look here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDWnMXzgeZo

Now go check ROYS comp-u-box stats during those fights and verify what you have just seen.

Notice anything different? How about EVERYTHING different? Speed, Power, Stamina, punch output, combinations, angles, and overlooked by most hunger and confidence. That jones would NEVER have said "So what if I lose."

RJJ in his prime destroys Joe easy. Sorry mate.

Yes RJJ does look great in his prime, against a bunch of Bin men, and off duty cops feeding a cat mice, cage a Siamese in with a Lion, and, well we just saw how the end result looks, and why the cat doesn't perform quite aswell.
