whats the general opinion of this then ?

i have always defended enzo.....i think haye was genuinely too much for him....i think he beat himself against ola, he fought the wrong fight, it showed enzo calzaghes limitations as a trainer that night too....and this denis lebedev i knew nothing about, but he's unbeaten and may be very good...

so, leaves me with the dilemma of how much more can i defend enzo...i think he could be good, he was good, but i think maybe the heart has been beat out of him at this stage..i dunno..

Enzo is a genuine great guy and a good boxer but he really should retire.

He was a euro level boxer who had one good night against Braithwaite, really. I think Haye ruined him with that closing barrage - Enzo's confidence to take a shot has gone and I think what little punch resistance he had is gone with it.

He looked slow and weak against Lebedev - the speed at which he marked up was worrying. He seems a nice guy, but arrogant. He sounded like his mouth was full of cotton wool speaking after both the Afolabi and Lebedev fights - he needs to stop before someone does him serious harm.

i can't argue with any of that...but, i kinda seen what i tought could have been...i thought he was better than ola, but still got beat...
i dunno what to say really...i cant argue with the above..but i'd like to..but i cant.

If he still wants to fight, let him be. I doubt he's made enough money to retire on and live out the rest of his life. He can probably still cut it at domestic level.

switch to MMA. his power would be devastating. he could fight at 205. he claims to know a bit of bjj. if he gets good at grappling he can protect his chin.

good god no....mma takes years and years of training and building up to get to a level where enzo would presumably jump in...
    two completely different sports..

Really nice guy is Enzo for those who've not met him.

Think he should retire though I think he's done personally. The Haye fight has ruined his confidence and to this day I don't understand why he didn't take a count rather than take 3 or 4 right handers in the corner in that fight.

Do they only use something like 2 or 4oz gloves in MMA? If so, I would imagine that Enzo would do some serious damage if he connected flush wearing them.

Whose training him? Still Carl Ince? I think he should have gone with a championship class, established trainer. Then at least he KNOWS that its him not his trainer. Personally I think he has loads to offer but I think he is training with the wrong people- Enzo was shown up as severly lacking strategic knowledge and Carl Ince despite having a cracking little stable has yet to demostrate any form in 50-50 bouts. Anyone with a little fitness knowledge can train a championship class amateur to beat a journeyman.

I have said before that I feel it is time to pack it in...... but if he fancies one more shot, and the board are happy for him to continue, then who am I to judge?

One more stoppage loss though and that's got to be it, surely?
