After being slightly shaken in the 1st round by the game and tough but slightly limited Shane McPhilibin and then being wobbled again and put down in the 3rd or 4th (i cant remember exactly which round as i was so focused) Enzo Macarinelli sensationally ragained his compusure to snatch the British title tonight, he is rebuilding at a lower weight after having a terrible run at Cruiser due to struggling to make weight, he has won a few in a row and after tonights fight Frank W arren stated that they would go after WBA(Shumenov), WBC (Winner of Dawson/Hopkins) or IBF (Cloud) to set up a potential superfight against WBO Champion Nathan Cleverly in the Autumn.

My question is how do you think he would get on against these opponents??

I think he easily carries his power down against Shumenov as he is not anything special really and has been fighting bums and dodging challenges since he bacame champ, i think Enzo would get the stoppage within 5, Shumenov is tailormade for him.

Cloud is still young and gets hit way too often for my liking, he has great potential but is not a true champion really as shown in his last fight, if Enzo catches him clean then i do not think that Tavoris could handle it, he is young enough to come again.

I feel that Hopkins may be too ring savvy for Enzo at this point but Bernard just doesnt do enough to win rounds these days and seems to look for the easy way out now, if Enzo fought him in the USA then i fear he would be jobbed but in the UK i would slightly favour Enzo.

Dawson has that X-Factor with his long reach and matches up well with Enzo i think, this fight is too hard to call imo, i would slightly lean to Chad as he is the younger fighter and open to more improvement. 51/49 to Bad Chad in this fight but i would not be surprised if the fight went either way.

What are your opinions on these fights?? Please state reasoning behind your opinions.

    Thanks in advance.

    Shumenov KO1

    Cloud KO1

    Hopkins KO1

    Dawson KO1

He might KO Cleverly though, I would put money on it anyway.

I am to be honest, i thought Enzo would blast him out of there but to his credit he faced adversity head on and used his boxing brain to take the best path to victory, if he had went gung ho i would have feared the worst but he showed great maturity tonight. How do you feel these fights would go, i always respect your opinion IB and unlike most on here you give a solid reasoning behind your opinions.

    Thanks in advance.

The bell was rung about 40 seconds early in the first with Enzo on the verge of defeat, right?

Aswell as the time keeper constantly counting a knockdown without the referees consent, the twat needs to be fired

All credit to Enzo for recovering though

It made Ahmet Oner look like a Saint. Complete farce and the timekeeper needs shooting.

    Hes just being a twat

Hopkins would pull out a decision

Shumenov could go either way on points

Cloud could possibly stop him late

    Cleverly would win on points

Hopkins just dont do enough nowadays for me mate, i honestly think Chad could stop him which would be a travesty considering the career BHop has had, i rate Dawson highly but in no way should he ever be able to stop Bernard, sadly i fear he will.

Shumenov is terrible imo, not even top 10 in the division.

Cloud i feel is too raw right now and barring homecooking ala Campillo poses no threat at this moment in time. Same goes for Clev.

I think that even with all his flaws, Enzo is abig player in this division and can make a big, big splash.

PS i am not a twat (if you are referring to me)

Was not referring to you dude

Enzo is just finished to be honest, he was gun shy in the first round tonight and didnt look that impressive against a couple of journeymen and this is coming from a big Enzo fan

In his prime id say hed have a decent argument but now with all the punishment hes taken I dont see him making waves, he should just get back to commentating and coaching. I want him to succeed in boxing but theres just no way he can compete at a high level anymore. Maybe he could challenge for the 175 british / European title but thats it
