Honestly... talk about stating the obvious. These people consider themselves journalists.

Those comments are what I'd heard yesterday, about him intended to talk to his wife about it. I really hope he retires.

    It's pretty funny, yeah.

The way he words it, I would love to hear the counter-arguement about how it actually might have been the wisest thing to do.

Only Enzo can make this decision, says Colin Jones

Former world title contender Jones insists no-one but Maccarinelli can make that call.

"Only Enzo can make that decision. It's not the first time he's been down this road and it's entirely down to him," he said.

"He can be proud of his career, but unfortunately people only remember you for your last couple of fights.

"It doesn't matter what your family and friends say, you have to listen to your body."

"It was clear with me, I knew when I'd had enough," he said.

"When I looked out of the window at the rain and knew I couldn't do my road run, I knew it was time to pack it in."

"I saw the last round and it was one of those things and he was very unlucky," he said.

"He caught him with a sucker punch and that's all there is to it.

"People talk about him being chinny, but if you box quality fighters, they're big hitters so you could call anyone chinny."

The poor guy just can't take a punch anymore. I know what he got knocked out with would of done the same to most cruiserweights out there but any time he got caught with aclean jab in that fight he seemed to really bother him, plus he has never had any survival skills when in trouble which is a bad combination.

The big problem is match making to me, Enzo had three first round blow outs before Frenkel which is not great preparation for him. Beating journeyman is one thing but to have to deal with a undefeated power puncher whose german promoters were happy to see him go states how confident they were.

Enzo never really learnt how to deal with pressure fighters down the stretch when they start throwing big swings and bombs.

He should retire, but it is his decision, no shame in fighting on if guys out there with 23-79-11 records can.

I'll remember him as a good fighter with great heart but just below world class.
