He is trying to get a rise and hoping to get some Welsh guys to start slating England and the English. Dunky - I don't have a problem with the Welsh, I don't have a problem with anyone based on where they happened to have been born. I think blind nationalism is incredibly childish and frankly bizarre....adults taking fierce pride in where they were born as if it was some form of personal achievement. That is a far cry from general patriotism and supporting your countrys sportsmen or teams. I have an issue with the millions wasted on Welsh language promotion and in sporting terms I support against Welsh teams ie rugby or football due to the anti English attitude that is everywhere in Wales. In terms of individual sportsmen it is different, as you know I supported Federer any time he played Henman. I would support Calzaghe over Woods and so on...
None taken my good man. & sorry for the comments I made, it was nothing personal, I was just sick of some of the welsh posters here who always get digs in at me, I know the welsh are good people. I spent a couple of weeks down there when I was younger, & loved the place. The people were friendly too, & my uncle lived in Wales for years & loved it also. I was just getting digs in at the couple of welsh posters who always make snide comments at me, & as they dont have national pride I decided to use certain tactics, but they were wrong. Cos I forgot that there are proud welshmen out there who would be reading & would think I was being a ****. It was a bad call. I hope you can forgive yer boy:good & for the record, I like big Enzo too. He holds a special place in my heart, for backing Scott Harrison when he was at his lowest point. Sadly though, I think Haye is going to win as that guy has unnatural speed for a man of his size. & speed at cruiserweight is a special weapon to have. I have been wrong before though!
You got to remember though Strike, you are from a neck of the woods where you are the beneficiaries. Put yourself in my shoes for a moment. I was part of an english poll tax experiment. Yup, thats right, England used our country as an experiment. & to this day I still get debt letters for the £380 that I didnt pay as a matter of principle. When you are on the receiving end of wrongdoings like that, thats what sends a man on the route to nationalism. I used to be a good british boy, voted labour & stuff like that. However, wrongdoings to my country changed me. A Union that uses a country as an experiment? Maybe if you were in my shoes back then Strike, a Scotman being experimented upon you could sympathise with my outlook a bit more. You are in the country that gets the best deal, of course you cant understand nationalism the way I do. Im not saying you dont understand nationalism, but as a man who lives down south, you havent been a victim. & you have to be a victim to understand what waters the seed of nationalism in a man. However, this is a lounge debate, but I just had to say my bit. Anyway, back to the boxing!
I didnt say it did Fluxstuff. But its **** like that that changes people. It certainly changed me, a british labour voter from a family of labour voters. Now Im a rampant scottish nationalist, & the fact of the matter is, if a UK government didnt use Scotland as an experiment & treat us like ****, would there be a wave of nationalism sweeping Scotland in the 21st century? Its being treated as second class citizens of a so called 'union' that is fanning the flames. I could go on about this **** for ages, I have loads of arguments ready to unleash, but I am going to turn over a new leaf here. People are uncomfortable with some of my views here, & as I am a good guy at heart, I have promised to take a back seat to controversy for now. I do believe though for all the posters who want to gag me, there will be many other posters who will miss my straight from the heart posts. Why? cos at the end of the day everyone loves a guy who is honest. However, as I am getting moaned at & being painted as a big scottish villain, let some other person be the controversial member of british ESB for a while. Im having some time off from being the brit forum badass, so lets watch everyone here hold hands for a while. Peace.
It made me a nationalist though Fluxstuff. As for the Braveheart angle, that film was made away back in the early 90's, so I dont think 21st century nationalism came from that film either. & I never said all englanders were bad people either, & if you dont feel scottish, then thats ok. You are what you are, & we all are entitled to make our own choices in life. Thats the thing, just cos scottish nationlsts are pro scottish, does NOT mean they are anti-english. Im not anti-english, I just want the best for Scotland. & our nation doesnt get a fair deal as far a this so called 'union' is concerned.
I have lived down South for all of 2 years. Let's not pretend that northern England did not suffer at the hands of the Tory government or that my family were some how exempt from the Poll Tax due to being English. Anyway resenting English politicians and being blindly nationalistic are mutually exclusive. If Scottish fighter was a racist, vile individual would you support him over a non Scot? Probably yes, simply because he happened to be born in the same country as you.
leave politics out of it Dunky, Nationalism is horrific even if it has become an anti-tory nationalism up in scotland, you lot werent the only ones who got shat on by Thatcher y'know.
