Just checked boxrec. And he was down against othe journeyman. Not a good sign going into the ring against a monster puncher like Haye.
True, but to be honest, with David Haye they have occcured at a much higher level. Having said that, I don't think either man is as chinny as what people have been making out. That reminds me, how about the winner fighting Herbie Hide? Not for any title, obviously, but just for fun?
I think both fighters will go down tonight , but my moneys on Haye , he's faced the better opposition , and is'nt a franky warren protected show piece.
5th round devastating KO for Haye. Macca carried out needing oxygen and starts calling Enzo Calzaghe "daddy" in the ambulance
So what is light hitting (12 KOs in 39 fights) SMW Lolenga Mock (27-11) ? A potential world champion? Haye's chin is as china as it gets there is no way around it.
That was against Bruce Scott. It was an excellent fight.Scott when he fought Mac was nothing more than a podgy light heavy. He was also quite short and compactly built.By the time they fought he was shot.If he wasnt so shot he probably would have finished him off in the 1st.
Enzo has been on the floor, been wobbled, and been stopped[early in his career]. But his chin is probably better than Haye's, although I beleive Haye's overall class will be the deciding factor tonight.Haye by KO early. :yep
Hey! He is close to becoming EU Champ at SMW so you shouldn't make fun of that monster puncher. Nah, kidding, i've seen him fight numerous times, and if theres something he can't it hit hard. Haye being send down from him does not sound too good.
Haye was far too eager for the KO early in his career - he left himself very open at times and was liable to punch himself out like he did against Thompson - that TKO had far more to do with poor conditioning and pacing himself very badly than his chin - he had Carl all over the place and could have got the KO/TKO if he had picked his punches a bit better but he was too wild and ended up looking like a zombie because he was so tired. People often understimate Thompson too, he was a dedicated professional and always came to fight in top condition. In retrospect it was poor matchmaking really to put Haye in with him in his 11th fight! That said, Haye has learnt a lot from the defeat, his work ethic is considerably better, he is far more focused and is now capable of picking his punches better which should greatly improve his finishing capabilities at the highest levels. The Lolenga Mock fight is a perfect example of him being far too wild and leaving himself open, the punch that caught Haye was the kind that you would land only a handful of times in a career, he may be a light puncher but all the angles and momentum were in Mock's favour and he put everything into it at that split second and Haye nearly paid the price for it (see Sven Ottke v Anthony Mundine for another example of how a feather fisted fighter punching in the right place at the right time can be considerably more devestating than what they are normally capable of). If I remember correctly Haye rallied impressively and landed an equally impressive punch which ended the fight.
