Anyone ever watched this guy except for the Hanagata fight ??? Is there any other footage of him ? Seems a very good boxer but it´s hard to tell without more videos. Btw, just noticed that Salvarria vs Hanagata is not on YT anymore
I can reup it, don't worry (I did with Medel Vs McGowan as well ) and no, there's nothing else. For a complete non-puncher the 1st round finish over Chionoi is something I'd love to know about. He had an old school drugs controversy :yep Oh, and Bus Station boxed his head off :deal
I saw his fight against Halimi Gutierrez on the undercard of Napoles-Backus II I believe. Man, wish I could see this one again. Sallavarria was the champ and it was a non-title, which was ridiculous since Halimi was ranked #5 in the world. Anyway, Sallavarria appeared to have the heavier hands but Gutierrez was speed incarnate with a very sharp punch and decked Sallavarria in the 4th. Halimi's hands were like a blur that night. He walked away with the upset decision and never received a title shot. His next fight was an eliminator with Fernando Cabanela, another underrated fighter and Gutierrez had to boil off some poundage the day of the fight (same day weigh-ins). Lacked a bit of pace in this one, was still hitting sharp, but Cabanela got the decision and the title shot against Masao Ohba. Sorry, went off subject a bit.
Thanks, Flea. Don't know if there is any footage out there of Halimi - probably only of the Sandoval fight, which I refused to watch at the time. Halimi was starting to fade in '72 and I hate watching once-great fighters getting beat up on by up and comers.
