Erdei beats Fragomeni for WBC CW title! Zsolt Erdei beat the much heavier Giacobbe Fragomeni in a 12 round brawl on Saturday in Kiel, Germany. Erdei started very well landing crisp shots and avoiding the slower but stronger Fragomeni's shots, but from R5, the Italian turned on the heat and it was toe-to-toe, give and take to the finish line. Both fighters, but especially Erdei - giving away 18 lbs in weight and recovering from a flu - became very very tired, but ultimately pulled out the win with crisp shots and the early lead. Very very nice brawl! [yt]DZWToO2RpGg[/yt] Tajbert, Sartison, Golovkin, Chakhkiev also wins! Vitali Tajbert also won his (interim) SFW world title vs. Humberto Gutierrez. The champ started strong, but Tajbert, the much shorter fighter found the way inside to land good short bombs all night. It was a brawl in the last few rounds, keeping the Kiel crowd entertained. Dimitri Sartison stopped Stjepan Bozic for the 'regular' WBA SMW title and Gennady Golovkin beat replacement Makarov. Chakhkiev won his 2nd pro fight via stoppage. _____________________________________________________________________________ Germany produced some nice cards this year, mainly Sauerland Events, but rival Universum Box-Promotion has put together a card with 3 world title fights and an exciting international fight for November 21 WBC Cruiserweight champ, Giacobbe Fragomeni faces former lineal LHW champ Zsolt Erdei. Funny story that instead of making Erdei-Jürgen Brähmer, Universum decided it's safer for the interim champ not to face Erdei, who was forced to vacate and fight at 200. Fragomeni had a draw last time vs. Krzysztof Wlodarczyk, and if he wins, he's mandated to give Diablo a rematch. There are two other world title fights on the card. WBC interim SFW champ Humberto Gutierrez faces Olympic bronze medallist Vitali Tajbert in a promising fight. The winner would either face Humberto Soto (with Soto-Gutierrez would be an all-Los Mochis, Mexico brawl) or would become "full champion" if Soto vacates. Gutierrez is just 21. With the Super Six Tournament being in progress and sometime in the future there will be a WBA/WBC unification (meaning the winner would become "super champion", the WBA pulled another trick and scheduled Dimitri Sartison (who lost to Mikkel Kessler) vs. 35 year-old Stjepan Bozic for the "regular title" a bit too early. The fight I'm personally the most excited about is Gennady Golovkin vs. Ishe Smith, who recently made Danny Jacobs work very hard for the W. Golovkin is a former amateur standout with wins over Dirrell, Bute, Korobov, Despaigne and Andy Lee and getting an Olympic silver. He's one of those hidden gems nobody outside of the hardcore fans know about. Smith upset Bailey, Estrada and Wolak and punchers like Julio or big MW Jacobs never stopped him. Golo was moved a bit slow despite the talent and amateur experience, so if he can come through Smith who proved to be too tough for certain contenders, he should look for a world title opportunity in 6 months. That's a pretty decent card for one show. Rakhim Chakhkiev, the Beijing HW gold winner and now a CW as a pro will also appear on the show for his 2nd professional fight. He's one of the new generation Russian fighters looking for pro glory.
WBC Champion Giacobbe Fragomeni: “It’ll be a terrific fight! Zsolt Erdei has my respect. He is the best technical boxer in the world and was WBO light heavyweight champion for so long. I fought against Rudolf Kraj from the same stable in the past and now cpmes the challenge from Erdei. I know Zsolt well from our amateur days where we boxed together at the same events, but that plays no role in my preparation. Of course, we’re preparing for a lighter opponent. Above all there remains my respect for him as a boxer and as a person. We’ll see a great fight! “ Challenger Zsolt Erdei: “I wanted another highlight in my career. Originally I wanted a title unification. Unfortunately, the possible opponents all ducked me so now I don’t have to think about it as the chance came to fight for the cruiserweight title. I was unbeaten as light heavyweight world champion, so as a challenger in this cruiserweight world title fight there’s less pressure. Naturally, I had cruiserweight sparring partners so I could test myself at the weight. With Fragomeni and me there are absolutely different fight styles colliding head on – he will apply relentless pressure and I’ll answer with my technique and quickness. I promise this will be a very spectacular fight. In addition, I might be the first Hungarian to win a world title in two different classes.“ WBC interim world champion Humberto Gutierrez: “I’m well prepared for Tajbert. We prepared at nearly 9,000-foot altitude. The temperatures there were the same as here in Kiel. Thus I have hardly any readjustment problems. After my majority decision win against Gulyakevich, now it’s on the fight against Tajbert — and I will win!” Challenger Vitali Tajbert: “I am, as usual, very well prepared — without a high-altitude training camp. Gutierrez is a typical Central American. The boys from there are tough and fight to the last minute. I must be sharp if I want to be the first German world champion at super featherweight!” Dimitri Sartison: “I will take advantage of my second chance for the world championship. After the Kessler fight, I’ve had an injury-free preparation. I’m ready to go the distance with Bozic, but if the KO chance is there, I will use it. Quite simply: I’ll bash Bozic out of my way and then I’ll finally have “my” world title!” Unfortunately no quote from Golovkin, so here's the Mamani fight: [yt]BFpSx-l1HDw[/yt]
Very disapointed if Golo-Smith is off. But the card is really good.I'm gonna enjoy it.Chakhkiev is one of my favorite prospects. Plus my boy Christian Hammer is on the card.
Okay, so Golovkin-Smith is definitely OFF. Although when it comes to Golovkin, I'm always suspicious of these pullouts, Tarvis Simms pulled that trick too and ended up fightin Allan Green. Maybe these guys managed to find a Golo fight AFTER they signed the contract? :think Anyway, so Golo is facing Mikhail Makarov, an unbeated guy (10-5) who's yet to face a boxer with a positive record, you get the idea. Anyway, the weights: Giacobbe Fragomeni 195.8 vs. Zsolt Erdei 178.8 (WBC Cruiserweight World Championship) Humberto Mauro Gutierrez 129 vs. Vitali Tajbert 129.9 (WBC Interim Super Featherweight Championship) Dimitri Sartison 167.1 vs. Stjepan Bozic 166.4 (WBA Super Middleweight World Championship) Gennady Golovkin 159.6 vs. Mikhail Makarov 162.5 Rachim Tschachkijew 199.3 vs. Denis Solomko TBA

All Results: WBC World Championship Cruisergewicht (12 Rounds) Giaccobe Fragomeni (ITA) vs. Zsolt Erdei (HUN) L PTS: 113:115, 113:115, 114:114 Wow! I hadnt expected to watch such a decent and entertaining fight! Close fight, but Erdei probably deserved the victory.Erdei now should either take early retirement or move down to light heavy. He fights above his weight at cruiser weight. Anyway! Props to the likeable Hungarian! WBC Interim World Championship Super Featherweight (12 Rounds) Humberto Mauro Gutierrez (MEX) vs. Vitali Tajbert (GER) L PTS:112:116, 112:116 und 113:116 Tajbert beat his Mexican opponent to the punch.Impressive performance by the German-Russian! But to be honest their encounter did fall of my high expectations. Tajbert vs Gulyakevich was pure fun to watch,an outstandingly entertaining fight, and so was Gulyakevich's fight damn close fight with Gutierrez in Mexico. Styles make fights as could be seen in Gutierrez vs Tajbert. Gulyakevich beat Tajbert, but lost to Gutierrez. Tajbert beat the Mexican who had trouble with Tajbert's speed and unorthodox style. A pity that Tajbert has no pop in his fists. He wont reign for a very long time.Too risky a style he has,and Gulyakevich has shown the blueprint how to defeat him. Anyway! He is fun to watch due to his flashy and entertaing style:good WBA World Championship Super Middleweight (12 Rounds) Dimitri Sartison (GER) vs. Stjepan Bozic (CRO) W TKO; Rd. 6, 0´00 I for my part had thought that the German-Russian would have a tougher time with Bozic.I was wrong.Sartison is a pretty good fighter, but too small for a super middle IMO. Middleweight (10 Rounds) Gennady Golovkin (KAZ) vs. Mikhail Makarov (RUS) W KO; Rd. 2, 1´24 Golovkin is on the roll. The sky is the limit!:happy Cruiserweight (4 Rounds) Rachim Tschachkijew (RUS) vs. Denis Solomko (BLR) W KO; Rd. 2, 0´47 Mismatch! Solomko is far too small for a cruiser weight. Heavyweight (6 Rounds) Christian Ciocan (ROM) vs. Hans Jörg Blasko (GER) W TKO: Rd. 2, 2´32 Cicocan alias Hammer is one of the most promising young heavies out there:good Cruiserweight (8 Rounds) Wojciech Bartnik (POL) vs. Marcel Erler (GER) W KO; Rd. 2, 2´02 Super Welterweight (6 Rounds) Luca Messi (ITA) vs. Lajos Orsos (HUN) W PTS: 60:55, 59:55, 60:54
Does Ciocan mean hammer in Romanian, cubex? By the way I didnt know that Silaghi,a sucessfull German-Romanian amateur coach,is now the man in his corner in the paid ranks. No need to learn German,Russia,or English for Ciocan,eh
