It's on the site with news on fights. But it says Frag is a WBC LHW champ instad of CW:huh does making it a unification.Kinda peculiar they would make such a huge mistake.Fight should be in november. For those who have seen recent Universum cards/fights and have seen Erdei the guy indeed looks fat an d overweight. But still CW?:think:huh
Boxrec has it listed with Erdei challenging for the WBC Cruiserweight belt only. It also randomly has Erdei in the cruiserweight rankings all of a sudden, without having actually fought there. They've done the same thing with Abraham in the SMW rankings (he's above Kessler, actually atsch). It didn't used to be this way. Before, you were ranking in one weight (your most recent) until after you'd fought in another...unless it was a one-off (ie JMM is still ranked at 135 despite having moved up to fight Floyd). How is their "computerized system" re-shuffling the division ranking deck without guys actually physically needing to fight at the weight? :?
Yeah I know but that's what it says. It's all over the sites. Erdei never looked like a big LHW anyway but it seems this year he has totally given up on discipline.
Strange matchup - 2 paper champs at different weights meeting. For what it's worth Boxrec lists it as at CW for Frag's belt. He's 35, maybe he's decided to cash out and this is the best they could come up with.
Erdei actually is the linear LHW champ if that matters anyway since he hasn't fought much of no one since he won the title,Garay being the exception. Erdei needs to get a medal for this one though, moving up in weight 25 lbs nad fighting a good fikghter.
I read about this on the scene, and the article said that there are also sounds that an Erdei-Fragomeni fight being scheduled is bogus and that Erdei will in fact be fighting Jurgen Brahmer on the mentioned date and site. Erdei-Brahmer sounds a lot more plausible to me.
It just says that it's a surprising move cuz everybody was expecting Erdei-Brahmer not that it's not gonna happen. But till it's not 100% I'm not believing it.It is Erdei after all.
Interesting, Erdei always looked like a guy who could make 168 (was a MW at the amateurs), going up 25 pounds is pretty odd, so I suspect Universum getting rid of Zsolt so their German "100-year-talent" could be full champ without a fight (Brahmer is the interim WBO champ at 175). Obviously this has something to do with Universum and ZDF parting ways, the stable wants to keep the marketable fighters (although Sturm has already left) and cashing out on others (Kotelnik vs. Khan, Chagaev vs. Wlad, Balzsay was to face Bika and Sidorenko, an excellent little fighter never recieved too much hometown cooking). If Erdei vacates, the lineal championship will finally be vacant, although other than the Hopkins-Jones winner, there's no standout no2 in the division, so I don't think the winner vs. Dawson or Pascal would be a rightful champ. I'd love to see Dawson vs. Pascal first, then the winner of that fight facing Hopkins or Jones. :happy
That's just terrible. I'm kinda befuddled by this news. On one hand I wish Frag rips Erdei a new ******* for the semi Ottke reign he had and on the other hand I can't but feel ofr Erdeo who at 35 moves up 25 lbs outside his weight to fight a good fighter.:think
Hmm well since boxrec is more and more becoming an authoritative source in the boxing world I guess offering them some money for changes could be smart. Not saying a 100% that this happened in this case. But it could be an answer/explanation for your (and my) question..
The apparent change in formula just doesn't add up (so to speak). It used to be very cut-and-dry...if you never fought in a weight before, you weren't ranked there. Now Abraham is obviously locked in contractually to campaign at 168 for at least the next two years, but he technically hasn't fought there - so why is he ranked? And how in the hell does the computer system give him 23% higher ranking than Kessler (1146 points to Mikkel's 932)? I'm pretty sure Abraham didn't even have that many points at middleweight, after the last time he fought there. Something is rotten outside the state of Denmark. :think
