This is a very random matchup but one I find pretty interesting. I like Donovan, he comes across well and showed a good skillset vs Zelfa, but unfortunately I think he's being thrown to the wolves here. Saying that I've not seen much of Ramirez's pro career other than his debut where he lost (avenged since). I predict he'll still have a comfortable UD win here. Thoughts ?
Random bout, but makes sense for Top Rank and Ramirez. They want Ramirez to be a superstar (he has the potential despite his nightmare debut) and some world wide exposure wont hurt. Feel a bit sorry for Donovan but at 36 he has to take every decent opportunity he gets. He was beating Zelfa until the knockout, but I imagine Ramirez will make light work of him. I don’t think he has too much pop but could see a standing TKO or corner stoppage, failing that a wide UD.
I was really impressed with Donovan against Zelfa as well, he was boxing beautifully that night.......... but Zelfa did pull out one hell of a shot to end matters. Unfortunately yes, given his age he is having to take any opportunity he can.
At 36 Donovan has to roll the dice. This is the type of fight he has been after since Barrett....not surprised Eddie didn't fancy giving him a chance against any of his fighters again after he nearly derailed Barrett. I think size caught up with him against Barrett and with Ramirez travelling he could get the upset here. I hope so as he's great to listen to Eric.
Theres 4 Irish fighters on the card - Paddy Donovan, Kieran Molloy, Kurt Walker, Eric Donovan Does old Bob Arum even realise most scottish fans won't give a **** about these fighters It's like when he put Lee Mcgregor as chief support to Michael Conlans fight with Tj Doheny in Belfast . Atmosphere was banging when all the Belfast boys were on the undercard were fighting, then Lee Mcgregor came on and it went dead.
It does not have the great local interest but we should probably expect that Top Rank Boxing will have more of their boxers on events in the U.K. after Sky Sports has entered into this agreement.
very interesting fight. Donovan was one of the most enjoyable amateur fighters ive seen in the irish scene. His IABA final appearances where always some of the most talked about fights of the nights. seems a top lad to,
Was impressed with Eric Donavons skills against barrett (first id ever saw of him) and found him enjoyable to watch, just seemed a bit undersized to barret. Wondered why he hadnt been out again anywhere. All i know about ramirez is he was a top amateur so hope donavon can give a good showing win, lose or draw.
