just 13 months ago fields was stopped on the outclassed rule, after being easily outboxed in an amatuer fight.

i like him , nice fast hands and power, but give him time to learn.

davis was a very good win and good exposure.

That win looked nice, but it seems a lot of people aren't looking at it in it's full context. Davis was essentially shot. Fields would have had a tougher fighter against a heavy bag. He looked fast, threw hard shots and moved alright, but he was against a nothing fighter.

Haye beat the best cruiser in the world in his last fight.

There is a big difference in quality of opposition here. When Fields looks good against a better fighter, then we'll talk.

He isn't good enough yet, to get in the same ring as Haye. But he is still only young, so he has time on his side.

Fields did show some nice discipline after knocking Davis down in the opening round, and does seem to display a pretty wide variety of punches- all thrown with pretty good speed and power.

I'll agree with you that he's probably not ready for Haye yet, but if he continues to step up his class, I wouldn't rule out his chances of winning a title at CW in, say, a couple of years or so.

    Nice prospect.

If they fought now Haye would murder him.

Theres a big difference between knocking out the likes of Kelvin Davis and being the main man at cruiserweight.

It is interesting how a young CW prospect (not even a contender yet) that just fought his first live opponent is already pronounced by so many people on this board as the next HW champ.:nut

Didn't we just have one of these threads last week?

You can't proclaim again champ after a one minute performance against a shot fighter. It was a very nice knockout, yes, but let's give him two or three fights against good opposition before we start hailing him as a contender.

Thread titles like this are just completely inane. Capfunds should know better.

Some people see one first round knockout on ESPN and lose their damn minds!

Fields looks solid but all he has fought so far is 10 no-bodies and one washed up ex-champ trying to comeback from a terrible back injury.

Take it easy and give him some time. His best win is over a totally shot Kelvin Davis. He has promise, but it's too early to proclaim him a future great.
