I don't honestly see the huge difference between pac then and pac now. The difference seems to be that he carried his speed and people 14-+ just aren't capable of reacting to it. I don't see where he's drastically improved his right hand or his combination punching. His assaults looked about the same as the ones with Cotto. Morales was simply able to keep him offset, and was able to punch between Pacs combinations and press forward.
He is way better with his right hand. From the power to the timing. Pac got some power in those punches.
I guess it comes down to opinion. I never bought into that manilla ice stuff. He seemed the exact same to me. throwing punches with mean intentions straight with both hands.
I think that is the thing with Pac. He gets a lot of power from straight shots. So when guys try to brawl with him he always gets there first b/c of his speed and he throws with power straight. Pac has become a better boxer as he moved up though. Not saying he is a pure boxer now but he boxes well enough to not get outboxed by some good fighters.
This is in my top 4 favorite fights OF ALL TIME..... i mean that. And Morales is my 2nd favorite fighter OF ALL TIME. For precisely the reasons he shows in this fight. Damn im getting overwelmed just thinking of that fight.....
Until now I still can't fathom why people was so mesmerized with MORALES on his FIRST fight with PAC, when he can't even finish a one eyed fighter, which was caused by a HEADBUTT, PAC and instead won only by a UD of 2 points. I wonder if MORALES was the one in that situation, would he have lasted 2 to 5 more rounds. So that's the most that the great MORALES can muster against the one handed PAC back then. :hat
I was watching his fight with Junior Jones just now. Jones bitter at the end in the post fight interview.
Pac has a great chin thats why. It wasnt like Erik wasnt landing bomb after bomb on him. HE could have continued to beat Pac up but switched south paw and got in a brawl. Thats gangsta. As for Pac being one handed, he looks two handed to me.
Pacquiao was clearly a left handed fighter back then. You know, people talk about how past it Morales was, but it's absolutely asthonishing that Pacquiao was able to beat so many terrific fighters, when he was green. Nobody, and I mean nobody, in history has done so much with so little. He beat prime Barrera years before his peak...that is one hell of an achievement. Not many great fighters could put up such a good fight against this version of Morales, before reaching their peak.
So everytime a fighter gets cut by a headbutt, he should be on his way out from that point on? Do you have an excuse ready for every loss on Pacquiao's record?
Great great fight. One of my favorite involving both fighters. Though Morales' boxing ability showcased in the second Barrera fight was his true gem, I think. As for war, the first Barrera fight was absolutely awesome.
