I'll say it one last time. HE WAS PAST HIS PEAK BY THE BARRERA FIGHT!!! Nothing to do with his physical abilities, he just got disinterested, believed in his own hype, lost that hunger he had and got lazy in the gym. As well as all that, Steward tried to change his style which just didn't work for him. Take a look at Hamed at the end of the Ingle days and compare that to the farce where he had Manny Steward and Oscar Suarez taking turns to be the corner man in between rounds. atsch
Morales can be a disciplined fighter in the ring when he feels the need to be. The times when he brawled with Pac in their first fight he had already gauged Pac's power and maintained just the right distance so the shots he would get hit with wouldn't be as damaging. I think he can do the the same against Hamed, who would be even shorter than Pac and thus would have more difficulty getting his range. The moment Erik bends his upper body away, Hamed's offense would immediately fizzle out.
He fought an elite fighter for the first time in his career and got out classed. Good entertainer but not an elite boxer ... Morales' jab controls the fight and leads him to a UD and if Hamed switches stances then you can consider him toast. Morales is good verse a southpaw or orthodox fighter.
As good as morales was, i think he was made for hamed, and i dont think like barerra he would be as cautious and disciplined throughout the fight , and would get caught by a big shot, check out the way raheem caught morales in their fight, quite similar style to hamed with the low gloves and odd angles, luckily raheem aint a puncher or that fight would of ended in a ko imo. So id see hamed catching him in similar fashion except we all know the prince packed some power in his shots.
Morales would have kicked Hamed's ass worse than Barrera did. Those who say that Hamed had tremendous power are ridiculous. Who in his prime and having a world class chin did Hamed beat? Paul Ingle or whatever his name was? "The Las Vegas" kid...what was his name? Kevin Kelly? Hahahahaha!!! You guys sure know your boxing.
People look into the Raheem fight too much. That was a weight division to far for Morales considering he started at 122. That's 4 weight classes above. Not to mention that Morales was an old Morales. Prime Morales destroys/beats pretty much anybody in his era. Hamed would get his arse handed to him.
I didn't see the fight, so i couldn't comment on it. Raheem being the type of fighter he is, i guess he's power punches are like jabs. I had him winning the Barrera Triolgy. He could of won all of his fights and prolonged his career fighting the likes of Peden and Juarez if it wasn't for his warrior/fight the best/put on a good show mentality. Morales was always going to go out the way he did with his mentality. He also beat David Diaz and should of been a 4 weight champion. Damn boxing judges.
