This is my problem with boxing. You always hear about how a guy still has it. he's not done yet he still has one or 2 more fights left in him. Why do boxing fans insist on guys going on until there is nothing left. Until he's losing to guys that you've never heard of on some obscure venue in boise idaho on the undercard of a guy with a 12-1 record. He's a fraction of what he once was no need fighting on until there is nothing at all left to love.
**** it! in jin chi is better than pac because he was able to hang with a prime morales. pac haters, gtf over it! morales shot blah blah you talk too much (especially those mexicans who does not want to give credit from pac). dumbasses!
Pac wasn't even prime when he beat Morales. He's improved a lot. To say that a prime Erik beats Pac 10 out of 10 is laughable.
I agree. He was well past it after his first fight with Pac considering all the punishment he took in that fight. It all showed in his next fight with Raheem and the second fight with Pac. All his fight after that was of a spent fighter.
He showed bad signs of slowing in the 3rd MAB fight & before you say it, it wasnt because his opponent was an ATG, check out his body movements in the 1st 2 MAB fights then compare, his body was breaking down & not responding in parts of that fight, his next fight vs Pac was just all too much after yrs of abuse & he left everything including his career as an elite performer in the ring in that crazy southpaw rd 12. Trust me, Ive followed the mans career, he was never the same from that period on.
not being at your best is not the same as being shot. Erik was still in excellent condition in that third Barrera fight. I think that he looked bad because he was too cocky. He himself admitted that he was tired of fighting Barrera and just planned to KO him easily. Once he realized that wasn't going to happen he adjusted and fought brilliantly it was just too late.
Yes, well done, yet ANOTHER thing that is gonna be bad for Morales, Erik was used to fighting every 4 months or so... mix all the wars, the extra weight at 135 + the unusually long layoff & you get 1 shot to **** fighter. Thanks Finito, that layoff slipped my mind.
I do agree mostly with this but after Barrera broke his nose in rd 2 (a good rd for Erik funnily enough), Erik dug down like he usually does & even tho he had ok success, Marco was getting the better for the 1st 6 rds - I only gave Erik rds 2 & 4. He admits himself that he didnt click into gear until the 2nd half - I only gave MAB rds 9 & 10 in the 2nd half to come out with a draw but the evidence was still there, he was at the end of his prime, he likely wouldnt have had enough to beat Pac if he had gotten the verdict vs MAB, it was his fury of losing to his main rival that brought out 1 last performance vs Pac, pure pride with a point to prove, nothing more.
so when did morales become shot? don't get me wrong dude, morales is my favorite mexican fighter (like you i guess), but the TS was saying that he's not shot. i'm saying that erik was shot after the 2nd with pac (he's past his best in the first and the second fight).
My view is.... After the 1st MAB fight, Erik left his absolute peak but with still many good prime yrs left in him.... The 3rd MAB fight he looked unusually slow, especially the 1st half & was the end of his prime yrs IMO, the performance was not like Erik in a big fight, definitely worrying. The 1st Pac fight was the tank emptying in 1 last great effort, his prime was over after that crazy 12th rd. Too many wars. Raheem looked like a sparring session, not like Erik, he looked ****. Pac II, he emptied everything he had in the 1st half but it was left in the ring in their 1st fight anyway so Pac turned him from being past his best to shot, look at the way he slumps to the floor. Pac III was a waste of time, he was shot to ****. I also think he was having trouble making weight from as far back as the Hernandez fight TBH which he always did in his 1st attempt but again, it harms the longevity of your body fighting elite guys as Erik was. Diaz confirmed he was shot, I thought he edged Diaz & it did help his body much better at 135 but what would any version of Morales from Zaragoza-Pacquiao I have did to David Diaz ? Thats the way I seen things, others might disagree. :good
Nah, they would split a few depending on which weight they fought at. The best of each guy at 130 would be a toss up, your talking the Pac of the 2nd & 3rd Morales fights vs maybe the Morales of the Hernandez fight, a 12 rd contraversial verdict is your best bet there much like the Pac/JMM fights. Any fight above 130, Pac wins... any fight below 130, Morales wins. Thats as fair as I can be. :good
