Erick Rosa didn't do a single thing in all of 2022. He then made a good fight out in Thailand but it went wildly wrong at customs - so that one got canceled. But this is going to be his fifteenth month without a fight and he needs one, badly. Any thoughts on what might come off for him? Rosa is still technically obliged to face Freshmart and the WBA has ordered another purse bid to settle matters after the entire Thailand fiasco. Team Rosa will probably still target that fight for all extents and purposes, cause its not like most of the top guys at 105 will want to face Rosa without a belt.
If I were Rosa I wouldn't want to go back to Thailand, kind of a career limiting move for a straw weight though. Interesting quote from over at B***** S*****: “The cheating has already begun,” Belgica Pena, Rosa’s career-long promoter who is also currently detained, told BS.com. “Our lawyers asked the Thais for all the necessary documentation to enter Thailand in time and they always took three or four days to respond. “Now we are detained at Thai immigration, and they say that the boxer will not be able to enter.”
All in all it was the best thing that could have happened to him cause theres not a chance in hell he would win a decision in Thailand against a thai fighter for a world title. When was the last time that happened? My guess is probably in the 90s but its rare
