Valdez is keeping up his high guard, waiting pat, and then ripping hooks when he senses Rosa dashing in close. Rosa playing matador, tossing quick high straight pot shots with both hands and then melting away low and to either side. Valdez tries a line drive right and only skims the hairline. Big exchange in the middle of the ring, both getting clocked. Left hook by Valdez on the body. Rosa with a left hand up top. BIG left upper-hook by Valdez. Rosa hurt more than he's letting on, backing up and shoeshining. Rosa looks in a bad way. He's leaning in toward Valdez, attempting to meet him blow for blow, but I don't like his legs. Valdez just keeps swinging big pendulous power shots, eating whatever he has to to ram them into Rosa's face. 45 seconds remain. Rosa manages to push into Valdez and take initiative, driving him to a corner with body hooks. Valdez now catches his own second wind and starts spamming his right hand. Big left uppercut downstairs by Rosa. Right hook up top, left on the body by Rosa. Huge straight left on the kisser by Rosa right at the bell.

Round 4

Valdez and Rosa both sent to neutral corners while the ref consults with somebody at ringside about something. Rosa takes the opportunity to re-insert his gum shield. Time in. Valdez is charging at Rosa with a double left jab between his eyes. Rosa drifting away from him and countering with long straight body shots. Rosa now coming forward - high southpaw jab, looping left, telegraphed as Valdez easily avoids, a warning shot. It's clear Rosa wants to work from distance and keep Valdez moving backward. Valdez starts to defy him, coming in with double right hands up top, both missing wide of Rosa's neck. Short counter right hook by Rosa. Body jab by Rosa. Valdez is just standing there not really doing anything. Rosa taps at him with some jabs and circles wide. Valdez sluggishly pursues, missing some uppercuts wildly. They rumble in close and Valdez finally gets a shot in, a short down-swatting left hook on the cheek.

Round 5

Valdez is coming in with his arms low, whether fatigued or looking for body shots. As a result, his arms aren't up to meet Rosa when he jumps on him with a flurry, resulting in an accidental rabbit punch by Rosa. Valdez being backed up by right jabs up top and lefts on the body. Valdez starts to roll forward and tries a lead right uppercut stepping in. Rosa dancing around him throwing pot shot body jabs. HARD left cross on the gut by Rosa catching Valdez stepping in, seemed like he got the wind knocked out of him for a moment. Crowd thinks something's afoot. BIG right hook by Rosa. Crowd is almost sure of it now. Rosa just stalking, not getting overexcited. Valdez watching, waiting, circling to his right. A few pawing jabs by Valdez. Rosa flitting away from him, dashing in with a quick left hand, then catching some chopping Valdez shots on his shoulder.

Round 6

Valdez is inviting Rosa to give him his best shot. They are cocking their heads at each other, as though mutually disappointed. Rosa flurries on him to back him into the ropes and Valdez starts spraying slow uppercuts wildly as Rosa retreats and just stares at him. Valdez laughing at him. He just wants to brawl. Rosa is intent on boxing. Jabs and hooks by Rosa walking Valdez down, then a left hand skewering him into the ropes. Right hooks by Rosa. Looping left around the guard crunching Valdez's jaw. Valdez getting tagged up but still laughing at Rosa. Every now and then in the midst of all of Rosa's shots Valdez will plant something on him in return but nothing slowing him down. 1-2-3 by Rosa. Left on the body by Rosa.

Round 7

Valdez is just laying hands all over Rosa, pantomiming punches and just touching his opponent up perhaps to get a psychological edge. No steam on them. Rosa is annoyed, not engaging him, turning his shoulder, lowering his right arm and tucking his elbow, squatting with a low center of gravity, twisting and blasting Valdez with left hands to push him off. Valdez still having a great time, making faces at Rosa while absorbing combos on the ropes. Counter right hand and left upper-hook by Valdez from the ropes as Rosa misses a left over his shoulder! Flush right hook in response by Rosa. Jab-jab-body left by Rosa backing Valdez into the ropes. Looping left by Rosa.

Round 8

Valdez is warned for something - shoving with his hand, by the ref's gesticulation? Time in. Left hook by Valdez. Rosa is hanging back on the outside, slipping the long lunging lead rights of Valdez and countering with straight lefts. Valdez tagged hard on his right temple. Now a good right hook by Rosa. Valdez pawing at his nose with his glove - will watch for an plasma leaks (could always just be snot or sweat). Rosa with left uppercuts on the body pinning Valdez on the ropes. Cuffing right hook, landing wide around almost the nape of Valdez's neck. Body shots by Rosa straying a bit low. Ref might be losing control here a bit. Flush left by Rosa. Body jab by Rosa. Two lefts on the body by Rosa. Valdez simply not answering, sitting on the ropes.

Round 9

Valdez is staying outside, occasionally lunging low with a jab or high with a right. Rosa reacting to him, slipping and countering. Pretty dull ninth halfway through. Rosa starts whipping underhanded lefts on the body, backing Valdez into a corner. Right hook by Rosa. Valdez tries coming up for air swinging but he's just getting hit without scoring himself. Rosa plugging him with lefts on the breadbasket. Valdez now lowering his elbows - he didn't like the feel of too many of those in a row. Rosa starts to jab at the now open head of Valdez. More lefts on the body. Valdez's elbows stay low. Rosa looking to set a trap here and decapitate him with a right hook - but Valdez wisely catches on and gets his left glove up.

Round 10

Valdez is coming forward now, but getting hit with jabs or lefts on the body as Rosa keeps his knees bent and continues backpedaling. Rosa walks Valdez almost onto a perfect right check hook. Valdez flurrying wildly and in slow motion with uppercuts and pushed punches whenever he's in close. Sloppy exchange, Rosa willingly letting Valdez land a few so he can rip him with a big right hook downstairs. Valdez keeps pumping away, his shots getting a bit harder and turning Rosa's head a bit. Hard counter left inside by Rosa. It's a real fight now. Both are tired, sucking wind but throwing hard. A minute left, anybody's round. Rosa has completely surrendered generalship; it's Valdez's kind of fight. Valdez walks through some right hooks and jabs but is able to clatter both hands off the head of Rosa several more times before the bell.

This is now uncharted territory for Valdez - ten rounds is as far as he's been.

Rosa has gone twelve on three occasions.

 

Scores in the live YouTube chat mostly range from 6-4 to 8-2 for Rosa. Couple people have a 5-5 draw, and one person says he is hoping the Mexican doesn't get robbed - but, hard to read sarcasm on the internet.

 

Round 11

Valdez whipping the body hard with both hands. Valdez has a bad cut over his right eye. Might be a fight ender. They have a long hard look. Ref rules from a butt. Allowed to continue. Valdez is forcing exchanges, barreling into Rosa. They slam into the turnbuckle in a rough clinch and the ref splits them. Rosa is winging right hooks, very loose, looking gassed and not willing to trade with Valdez at all anymore. Valdez lunges after him with a right hand and then complains of Rosa's glove touching him on the back of the neck but the ref cautions him because his forehead was right there below his fist on the way in. Big left hand on the button by Rosa.

Round 12

Valdez is following, and shrimping up as Rosa cuts loose with big right hooks that splash into his shoulder. Valdez shrugs at him, goading him to fight. Rosa jabs, circles, and throws pot shot left hand leads on the body and right hooks up top from outside. Valdez catches him with a jab but Rosa escapes the corner. Rosa tries clinching and then complains to an uninterested ref that Valdez bumped arms with him in basically a shielding maneuver. Valdez pumps out several punches but Rosa grabs him and they twirl in a brief clinch. Jab by Valdez. Rosa too tired to slip now. Body jabs by Rosa.
