I'm completely stumped as to whether Maximiliano Sergio Maidana is any relation to Fabián Andrés "TNT" Maidana or Marcos René "Chino" Maidana. There isn't any strong family resemblance, and he wasn't born in Margarita Santa Fe like they both were...but he's also younger by many years - Fabián is six years his elder and Marcos fifteen - so it's conceivable he could have been ...well, conceived, by their parents after they moved to Buenos Aires (where all three now reside). Or he could be a cousin. Or just a random guy who coincidentally shares a surname/nationality/occupation.

I can't find anything online confirming or denying any blood connection.

 

Simón Esteban Agatti vs. Jonathan Braian Gatto, 6 rounds @ super lightweight

 

Simón "El Salvaje" Agatti is 11-2 but came damn close to being 13-0, dropping both men that beat him.

Jonathan Gatto is one inch taller and the same age but at 5-4 he was definitely brought here to lose.

 

Agatti cannot slip a jab to save his life, but he is whooping the dogshite outta Gatto. 20-18

He's getting rounds in, but Agatti not being challenged whatsoever.

This will be just his third visit to a 6th round coming up - both previous times, his opponents beat him after climbing off the canvas earlier in their fights. I guess psychologically it'll be good for him to go the distance in a dominant rout, and exercise those demons.

Agatti starts targeting Gatto's body with powerful hooks with both hands - at one point landing so hard that his own gum shield pops out.

A sustained attack, mixing in some looping head shots, brings on a stoppage by the ropes.

Michell Andrés Banquez Bello vs. Maximiliano Sergio Maidana, 8 rounds @ bantamweight

 

Michell "El Arsenal" aka "The Black Freezer" Banquez was born in Venezuela, spending the first half of his pro career there before immigrating to Buenos Aires two years ago. His best victory to date was an upset over Luqmaan "Prince" Patel in 2019 for the vacant IBO bantamweight title - but his biggest achievement since then is running Ramón Cárdenas somewhat close in a UD loss in 2022.

Very little book available on "Maxi" Maidana - he's undefeated, but doesn't appear to be that big a puncher at 13-0-1 (5). I also think if he really was a little brother or cousin of the famous Maidana brothers, he would be under the Chino Promotions banner. Instead, his entire career has been handled by Mario Margossian.

 

I'm now imaging him calling Agatti vs. Gatto and trying in vain not to get tongue-tied.

 

If he is related to Chino & TNT, Maximiliano is undoubtedly the ugliest member of the Maidana family.
